Heres the bike i am buying in Spring...

hey Tom i need ya to break down what that means with the gov.t helping out etc... I didn't get much out of the article because i am not up on that kind of stuff to know what i gain.

Joe, what that mean is any tax dollars you pay for that bike purchase, as well as some other fees ( such as freight, possibly set up fees etc) can be written off at tax time in January 2010. what that means to you, is 5.56% of 8k, about 450 dollars just for tax, and hopefully more. It is not a lot, but it will help.

Hopefully I will be able to jump in on this deal as well. If things turn around for me, I might be looking at a new r1, . Well, provided that version fits me still. Glenn Curtiss is getting the r1's in sometime soon.

That is a nice color combo for that 1000RR. Congrats.

I will get pics up when i pick it up, getting the insurance straitened out.... General casualty seems like the way to go but they are hard to get into... But my uncle being an insurance agent and my dad insuring everything he owns with them will help my chances.... they want only 750 dollars a year for full cov. and the other company wants 1600 a year (a four pay deal) we did not deal with state farm because my uncle is not a agent for them.

bluebook for this bike brand new is 8600.00 i got it for 8g. Damn cedarcreek having deals?!?! no way.

03viperguy, I blue booked this bike, and its brand new, out of the box, zero miles, a seller could get 8600, i got 8000, what else do i need to say?

oh, I was going by msrp, which on the 09 is $11,999. is the kbb actually showing the msrp new prices??

kbb is showing what i can expect to get a 08 cbr liter bike for brand new, mind you it is considered last years model.... 09 in this years... they do not have an 09 option for bike prices on there.

Does the 07cbr1000rr have a slipper clutch? i've tried lookin around, some places say they do and others that they do not, its not like it makes a huge difference for me... i'd be more concerned if i was ont he track with this bike and it did not have a slipper, its effective for going thru turns downshifting and you dont get the engine braking as you would with the normal clutch...

i'm assuming if it does NOT come with it, which i have a feeling it doesnt, because i'm finding more no's then yes's about it, Is the slipper clutch worth it if i'm just riding the streets? i prob will go to a track day or two, but thats it. they are 1100 bucks if i were to even consider upgrading ever in the future...

it is really not needed on the street, unless you are really riding near the dangerous end of the spectrum on public roads. go to a school first before you hit a track, keep the rubber on the road :)

yes, 3 of them. I started on an 82 cm250c (a rebel before it was called a rebel) an 88 hurricane 600 (a cbr before it was called a cbr) and just got a 78 cb750 as a project. the 88 hurricane is why I think noone should start on a liter bike, as I have found the 21 year old 600 enough to really get into trouble and go well beyond my limits very fast, and it only has about 90hp and is 425 lbs or so. ride it without paying a LOT of attention and having a lot of experience and it will bite you in the *** FAST! :) hell, if there is the slightest bit of gravel on the road and I snap the throttle on the hurricane it will step out sideways pretty quick. and thats with 40k miles, a lot of previos owner neglect, and carbs. imagine twice the power and faster throttle response :) I would like a newer bike, but I still have a bit to learn on the old girl before I upgrade. and I got all 3 bikes for free lol!!

yea... I have been on alot of 600's oldest i've been on was a 94 cbr 600f2 then i rode a 97 900rr for a while then got back on a 99 ninja for a few weeks.... These are all buddies bikes, but i got some miles on them.... Figured i want this big dog because i have a feeling i will upgrade soon if i got a 600... yea i know they have alot of power... but theres just something about having a 1000cc that makes me want it.... more power then i will ever need but the option is there haha.

No, that bike does not have a slipper clutch, and it really is not needed. If you get to be an advanced track day rider, then you might need it, but it really is not needed.

Hey do you think it is a smart idear to take the battery outta my bike and keep it inside on a wood block so it doesn't drain or get weak in the cold garage?
