Another Srx Set-up For The Mix. 3:16

yep I tried them a few weeks back.Lugged the motor down with the setup..Must have to much weight in the arms.Have 4.5 both holes.Only pulled at 7000 rpm's .My stock weights and helix I am pulling good and quick.Got it up to 95 on the river no problem and running 8500 rpm's.Like it to be a little lower and climb up to 8500,so added 2 washers to tip rivet to make it about 5.4g now. That should work fine. But scratching my head on the 8bu-10's.
Stock weights are running at 53.4 grams and 8bu-10's are running at 55.71 grams. That is only like 2.5 grams heavier. That shouldn't drop rpm's by 1500.I should of started out empty on 8bu,s first and then added as needed. Now since I have 4.5 in both holes,I will drill a hole in the middle of them to drop the weight and see what gives.I am using a Bender 50/40 helix also and red spring at 80..
Other helix's I have are..yamaha 45,47,51/43 and 49/45 Bender and a 54/44 .

the reason the 8bu-10's pull the motor down so much over the 8dn-20's, even tho they are only 2.5 grams or whatever heavier, is cause of the more aggressive curve of the weight. they will make the primary shift way harder. look at the weight force charts in the tech pages and study them. you will see that even tho the 8bu-10 is a lighter weight empty, versus the 8dn-20, that it can generate more shift force.

so then I should of tested firstly 8bu-10's empty just to see what happens and then add as needed. So probably need the 2ndary wrapped pretty tight in order for the belt not to drop to quickly. Was using a red spring, mabe should of gone with green at 80 wrap also.

I won't have much time at xmas to really do testing, will be riding with the guys and just will use stock setup for the time being since she is pulling good numbers. If I can't get them dialed in,then I will sell them and the helix in the New Year. The 8bu-10's and the 50/40 helix are totally brand new items also, not bought used.I have had about 1/2 hour time on then so far..lol

boo-hoo!!!I have no patience GOD!!!..Just joking...I'll work on it slowly.Maybe by the end of the season I'll get here done....not.Did I ever mention to you I hate testing and testing and testing...etc.. So if she is only pulling 7000rpms..where do I START!!!! :o|

what's the rpm gain or loss for every gram taken or added to a weight??Is it about 100 rpm gained or lost? The only helix I have close is the 50/40.Not buying anymore for now.

If you want to get rid of that helix let me know. That is weird that Tony's sled will turn that setup perfect and you are 1500rpm's off?? That is alot!! Tony will that setup run good with you on it? not just the little girl/man? LOL That is what I call my brother inlaw he only weighs 135Lbs.

yeah..Tony has to try that setup with him on it for us to see what the real numbers are.We are losing at least 5 HP with us sitting on the sleds...was the gas tank full or only 1 gallon in there...did your sled have like 50 plus pounds of ice and snow stuck to the tunnel,rails.etc.Big difference I guess for us on the trail compared to a clean ice track. We have to compensate for all this and it is called testing with different set-ups until we get close.
I know on ice my 8dn-20 setup pulls hard also and gets me there quick. When you can't even see your speedo and tach at that speed..its fast enough.

SHURE WEIGHT A FACTOR, SLED ROCKS WITH ME ON IT AND I AM 238. ANOTHER BIG FACTOR IS I TESTED THIS SET-UP SLIGHTLY BELOW SEA LEVEL. ALOT OF THINGS COME INTO PLAY HERE, THATS WHY CLUTCH SET-UPS ARE A STARTING POINT, NOT A SHURE FIRE HIT. 3:16 (yammie tony)
