Thanks again for the help guys.....
Its soooo fun with this sled, OH BOY I wonder what kind of crazy broken mystery parts we will find tomorrow!!!!
I still havent gotten under this thing!!! Im really really afraid to even think about taking the skid off!!!
so I'm guessing the long drive shaft is called the "jack shaft"...... I need one!!!
ANYONE HAVE A JACK SHAFT????
PN 8CR-17681-10-00.... it is the same shaft they use for the vx 500/600 and the SRX 700 thru 01 maybe more, those are the years...

I gotta tell you, you have one hell of a positive attitude. I would have shot and burned that thing "at hello".
Anyhow, seriously, I am tipping a drink to all those involved. Cheers to you....

I would have to wonder if the nut that hold the gear on the jackshaft may have been over torqued a time or two. This summer you might as well complete your full restoration of this machine your about 60% done. Good luck

Well guys...... I've kept my head up!!! I've laughed about all this mess!!! I've met a grip of really helpful out going guys!!!
Tonight I F*$$*NG LOST IT!!!! I FLIPPED!!! SPAZZED!!!! FREAKED OUT!!!!
the first time I took my secondary off it slid off like butter..... I think all the heat build up has changed things a little, or maybe its cause I over tightened the whimpy aluminum bolt!!!!! OR MAYBE THIS THING IS A HUGE POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAHHHHH HEM.......
are there supposed to be any shims behind the secondary??? between the bearing in the frame and the secondary???
for some reason the secondary was really really hard to get off this time!!!! I mean REALLY hard!!!!!!!!!
OOOPS!!!

They don't work too well in that condition. I don't honestly remember how many spacers are behind the secondary. It should slide on the jackshaft's splines easily since it is semi-floating on them.
yeah.... didnt figure it would,
But man it sure felt good!!!

might wanna replace that secondary, doesent look like it should... question about mine, i heard you guys talking about 70 60 and 80 degrees, would my clutch being set to the wrong hole make it not have top end? and if so do the holes on both sides have efect? on the inside holes doesent seem liek it would but should i try adjusting mine to get mine to work on top end?

Wow. After the two hour read I must say, You all are complete saints. Holy sled heads, ride on! Thstorms you have a great head on your shoulders. Even the whole secondary thingy is a learning experience, you will not soon forget. It is a rare occurrence that so much love is flooded into such a situation and or another persons needs by others. Amen (and I'm not religious. lol).
If you lost your temper and busted up the secondary, then ah, what took ya so long?
Your patients is golden man. You could teach us all a bit.
The spacers(washers behind the secondary) are in what Ive seen, used for proper alignment. so you may need some for the new clutch. On my newer rig they can be needed on the outer side as well.
I'm new to the site(membership wize), but must say, its a great community.
Best wishes to all.

storms came over tonight to borrow a jack shaft and some clutch parts and to vent some of his anger tonight. also learned after 5 phone call that his sled never had the aluminum collar the is on the secondary bolt to prevent from over tightening so that the secondary has play. the previous owner misplaced it. i found a secondary for you travis and the piece you need for your secondary bolt. see you tommorow at gun lake.
