Dragg'n SRX's/Vipers

I wouldnt know my grass firecat was all stock just like my trail firecat with the 900 on spray was stock...lol You are absolutely correct, they are the ticket for grass drags now but I am looking for an srx to run again as well, they are still great at the backyard stuff in the right hands! Also, people talk about how they see stock firecats at these backyard events and how slow they are but think about what an srx that is stock w\out clutching and setup runs like at those same events, can you say slow!

yeah thats true jminor1 I seen an SRX 700 last year at a snow drag event and man did it ever dissapoint me, 600 twins were beating him It was definately stock

BIG DEFFERENCE BETWEEN EVERYDAY FIRECATS AND ISR ONES. BIG DEFFERNCE BETWEEN SRX,s THAT ARE SET-UP GOOD AND WORN OUT ONES TOO. THIS IS A DEFFERENT ARGUEMENT. MY POINT IS GRASS RACING AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL, A SRX IS NOT COMPETIVE ANYMORE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

ok this might have been stated before but is it all down to the weight differance between the 2 sleds or is there more

take the 2 best tuners for each sled and set them up ISR legal is it only the weight holding the SRX back?

SEE. THE CULPRIT BEHIND THIS IS THE INFAMOUS RULE ORGANIZATION CALLED ISR. THE F-7 IS NATURALLY LIGHTER THAN THE SRX BY PROBLEY 60 POUNDS. THE FIRECAT IS A EFI. THE SRX IS NOT. ISR ALLOWED THE FIRECAT TO STILL BE LEGAL IN STOCK CLASS RACING WITH THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE UPGRADES.
1. TIMING KEY
2. RACE ECU / BOONDOCKER
3. '' Y'' PIPE
THE SRX HAD NONE OF THE ABOVE. FIRECATS DYNOED WITH THE FOLLOWING WERE AT ALMOST 160 HP. WHERE THEY ARE 140 STOCK. AND ISR LETS THIS BE LEGAL. TELL ME WHAT YA NEED TO DO SRX TO GET THAT HP. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Exactly!!! Put that Firecat back to showroom stock and the SRX will beat them 75% of the time!! Rules are the same in NSSR racing and the SRX is only 2 mph slower than a f-7 that has the allowed mods!!

So you do agree a truely stock F-7 versus a truely stock SRX700 the SRX is a faster sled!?!?

No dont agree - Heres the deal F-7 was 80 pounds lighter. This is a absolutely to much weight to overcome. The F7 was 138-139 hp stock and will beat the very best set up SRX every time period. The SRX was 142-143 at best. Just keep thinging about the eighty pounds. Simple mathematics. This is why we don't let the fat guys race.

Tony - Boondocker is not legal for stock class under ISR rules.

I'm not sure about the Y pipe being legal but its only worth 3 HP and was not the reason why f7 started winning. I love the blue sleds but the winning ended in 2002 at the sanctioned events. This rivalry will never end.

I didnt think the y pipe was legal either. As for the other mods:
- if you could run a timing key in a firecat you certainly would be allowed to run one in an srx..
- I wouldnt think a boondocker would be allowed on a stocker but the reburned ecu is and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that. How is it creating an unfair advantage for the srx when a stock well setup srx has a timing key and jetting?? The race ecu has an advantage in the fact that it has a 'timed run' programmed into it and it alters the timing throughout the run as well as fuel delivery, I would be willing to bet there is the same thing available for a nytro by now..So the only difference in an ISR stock comparo between the srx and firecat that I can see is that the jetting and timing remains a constant throughout the run depending on what YOU CHANGE IT TO whereas the firecat varies itself throughout the run, not cats fault the sled is a fuelie..

I KNOW THIS IS BOGUS COMPARISON TO MOST, THE 2001 SRX SET THE FASTEST E.T. RECORD FOR OUT OF THE BOX AT THE AMSNOW SHOOTOUT IN 01. THE FIRECAT DID NOT BREAK THAT TIME WHEN TESTED. I AGREE STOCK/ FOR STOCK THE SRX WAS FASTER THAN THE FIRECAT.
I DISAGREE, A BOONDOCKER AND THE '' Y '' WAS LEGAL. NOW SHURE THERE WAS A TIMING KEY FOR THE SRX. THERE ALSO WAS A RACE BOX. THERE ALSO WAS A 10% OVER BORE AND LEGAL BLUE PRINT SPEC. BUT THERE WAS NOTHING YOU COULD DO TO OFFSET WEIGHT DEFFERENCE. AND LIKE I POSTED, ISR LEGAL FIRCATS COULD PULL 160 ON THE DYNO AND STILL BE LEGAL. THESE SLEDS SHOULD OF NEVER BEEN ALLOWED IN THE STOCK CLASSES. THERE SHOULD OF BEEN A SUPER/ STOCK TWIN CLASS FOR THEM TO RUN IN. THEY PRETTY MUCH MADE GRASS RACING AT BIG RACES ANYWAYS A ONE SLED SHOW. 3:16 (yammie tony)

X2...if those F7s had tuning forks on them...I would have owned one!!!
BUT THEY DIDN'T! SO I DON'T!
Case closed for me!

What he said, Last year I could get em all in the dirt but 1 f-7, and I think I heard at the track it is one of the fastest STOCK, yeh right, but mine ain't either, f-7's in the stock classes nationally. He has ran a 5.27 with it, heck half the improvers can't run that.

I'm a die Yammie guy, I bleed blue, but i gotta say those F7's are wicked sleds. They have it all: Good looks (especially the orange), power and speed, descent suspension. The one thing they are missin is the reliability/build quality of our Yamahas.

NO, BUT THERE OUT THERE. NOT EASY TO FIND. LIKE YOU, I RUN A 2000 AND FOUND A BOX FOR MINE WITH 2000 PLUG. VERY LUCKY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Ok Thanks Tony, now is there a noticiable differance in performance from a stock CDI

The timing is not changed on the Race CDI's for the SRX's until 8250 rpm, where it holds 11 degrees from that point on, with no rev limiter. There is no difference to running a stock CDI for bottom end. The only way to increase ignition timing down low is to use an offset keyway.
