8BU-10 set up close 2nd try
well since the the 8BU-10's had 4.5g in both holes, motor lugged down and wot rpm was only 7000 at best.Today I have them with 3.6g inner and empty in the outer hole.Using stock y-w-y primary spring .The 2ndary has a 50/40 helix wrapped at 80 with green spring.took her out and it felt not to bad.She is pulling higher rpms now. From a standstill(snow is very loose everywhere) I pin it ..it goes to 8500 without a hiccup .drops to 8200 and pulls right to 8500.Not bad for guessing what to use in the setup. It does seem like it pulls more intense to me,only had it up to 90mph on speedo at 8500 rpms. Not enough of an area to go more.It is only a -9 C day out to,colder would be better. But am a little pleased with it.Clutches are both warm and not hot to the touch. Can't wait until there is a mile run somewhere to test, but that will be in January once the big River is frozen enough. It's a start.I might try the green spring at 70 next time. And maybe add a .8 rivet in tip.
My 8dn-20's today were pulling good to with 4.5g inner and 5.4g outer.Red spring at 80.The clutches were real cool to the touch on this setup.Felt like at any speed..if I pinned it..that track would just spin crazy like under me..not to shabby..even at 70 mph.

You need to put the weight at the tip on the 8bu-10 because there is less weight there and leave the inner empty.

I am open to suggestions.Wander if 3.6 tip is fine and inner empty.

I have a radar gun and will be usuing it later when the River freezes properly and we have long smooth stretchs to test on.Yes I have to make up for the lack of some guys on here,a lot of guys don't show up as they used to.Come on modsrx...why don't you have your sled done yet..you had like 9 months to prepare it.After the kids are sleeping, you go to the garage and work till like 3 am ,get 2 hours sleep and do it over and over till she's a done deal..
Well I just did this one change with the 8bu-10's just to see what gives,if there was a chance or sell them. Now I figure I would give them a chance.I know for sure she don't fall flat on its face this time..
Need that real snap out of the hole feeling yet,at least at one point today..the ski's lifted a good foot at launch, but the snow is just to loose and the studs don't even help.More weight in tip would keep belt tight and accelerate steadily.I forgot to mark the primary with a black marker to see how far that belt was going,I don't think all the way anyways.I will put back my 8DN's back in since it was right on and pulling fast. Then I'll get a brainwave again and try something else on the 8BU's later. At least I now see they could work great with that 50/40 helix.

TONY..answer me 1 question then..is it wise for me to use stock primary or w-w-w primary spring. Won't w-w-w,besides engage earlier..actually shift to fast and and lug me down on top??

my 8dn-20 set up today actually ran clutches cooler then the 8BU setup. So my belt must be slipping some then with 8bu.

Blue something seems off with your set up. All the SRX's we have used the BU10's on pull more weight than that even with the WWW spring. Is your engine healthy? Gearing stock? Chassis rolling nicely? Seems to me your down a bit on power..
