tony, went testing today with my trail mod. i am missing an 8bu 00. do you have one i can get ????? whatever fee you need. lolol 2 just dont cut it.
MIKE I DON,T. PROBLEY BE WORTH YA JUST GETTING IT AT DEALERS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I just rebuilt my '98 700 completely bottom up, and had no degradation in performance in fact it feels much snappier. I didn't break it in and the clutch setup hasn't been changed...imho I don't believe break in has much bearing here. I set my clutch up last year and it was the best setup I've ever had;
- 8DN20 w/ loaded 4.5
- WWW 2 shims
- new bushings
- 54/44 helix
- new ramp shoes
- green spring
- 70 or 80 twist (can't remember)
- brand new 8DN belt
- 23/39 gears w/ 8t drivers (definitely need studs and transfer rods for this setup).

I constantly check the plugs after the rebuild and they are a nice brown across all cylinders (42.5 pilot jets, needles at #3 position, 146.3-146.3-148.8 mains & fuel screws out 1 1/4 turn).

Why are you running 8 tooth drivers?

This sled use to have a 2" paddle track and the 8T drivers allowed space for this track...when I went to a 1.25 ripsaw w/ studs I left in the 8T as it gave me a nice freight train take off although lost a little at the top end...you can achieve the same result by playing with your gearing (chart in the tech pages). I ended up with a 39 gear on the bottom because of the Viper reverse I installed, put a 23 on the top to achieve a nice trail friendly 1.89 ratio.

it does seem like guys can get the SRX's running good with the 8DN-20's.I tried the 8bu-10's again today. The weather is starting to get crappy out now.The temps are climbing and the snow seems like it is fading.Basically sugar like snow now,no real base anywhere..spin out into the grass all the time now.Becoming a terrible winter again for riding. That is like 3 years in a row.Starting to be no fun riding anymore.
Had my 8BU-10's at 53 grams total weight today. .8 inner and 3.6 outer rivets.Went with w-w-w primary spring.Engage before 4000 rpm's.Tried both red at 80.....and green at 80. WOT only hitting about 8000-8100 rpm.So still not performing well. There is no engine lugging going on anymore. It just goes to 8500 and back down to 8000 or so and that is it.Almost had it to 90 on speedo.Anyway not a day to test these weights and conditions terrible.SO I will put back my 8DN's for the next while..at least it will pull strong and consistant to 8500.

So this is it:

8DN-20 weights
4.5g inner
5.4g outer
stock spring y-w-y
47 helix
red spring at 80 or 70

don't know if the w-w-w spring would be good with this set-up.

I use to run a ywy and my rev's were around 8500 or slightly higher depending on how cold it gets, I switched to www and I get around 8400 and no higher then 8500. I read somewhere on this forum (Turk?) that the SRX makes most of it's power at 8300-8400...not sure about the '02 though.

Have you checked your secondary for any sticking or worn parts? ...the 8BU's will put a little more stress on your clutch and you might be on the threshold.

well since modsrx is viewing..I'll have to keep everything secret now.I am still not feeling good today..mod's fault..caught it from him...I have no energy and my head is a balloon or something or other..

wish i could have all your energy and time to test all those clutching :o| :o|

my energy is draining day by day here mod...since the temps gonna be warm out for the next week or so,I am going back to a 51/43 helix green at 70.Seemed to work great for me years ago in mild temps. This is with stock 8dn-20's ..4.5 and 5.4 g rivets..w-w-w primary with 2 engagement shims.Going to be like plus 2 C on Monday here..what a bunch of crap weather..... :o|
Think I am going to sell the sleds and seriouly buy a small hovercraft..them things are neat and can be used 12 months of the year and spin on a dime to..lol

sorry to here that mod..got be be some snow there..the east having a lot of storms lately.Have you looked out your window lately..to much time spent on the kids.lol Get with the program man..sleds first....

well anyways my best set up today was the 51/43 all the way.Got to 90 quicker then anything else and rpm's dead on 8500. 54/44 was a dud again..only pulling 8000 and 80 mph.On cooler days I will go back to stock 47 helix. The 8bu-10's can't see using them until it cools down enough to test.Snow was crap today and mild temps and 51/43 proved to be the winner in these conditions AGAIN...

not sure where u can see snow here but it cover the grass and not more ....u probably overload the 8bu or wrong spring or helix to match

I have seen snow on the news in Montreal..what's up with that mod..you just don't want to ride anymore it seems. We are going riding xmas day for a while..come join us.....lol

merry xmas to u blue ............. ;)! yep temp will be go up this week sucks sucks sucks

you guys need to come to south eastern Minnesota!! We probably have 30+ inches on the ground. If you get off trail and stop you are F'd be prepared to dig!! This is the most snow we have had in December in Minnesota since 1969. Hopefully we don't get any warm spells and we should be able to put on some serious miles this year. I have put on about 300 so far and we have really only gone for 1 all day ride.
