Very Unhappy Srx Purchase

Why would you go to the work of putting Cat drivers on the SRX? To basterdize it more???? That makes zero sense and will be a ton more work and senslless hassle. Dump the track and get a good camoplast with a 2.52 pitch.
 
Because the drivers that are in the sled are completely done
The artic cat ones are new and free
Hopefully I will just press them onto my shaft

Otherwise I will have to buy a new track and drivers
 
I will have to confirm tomorrow but it looks like maybe the drivers in the sled are just worn really really bad, so the artic cat ones I was given are actually the same as stock SRX's.

Is it worth while doing the drop bracket "thing" when I have everything out?

I would say depends on the riding you do. If you only trail ride, I would say no. If you are boondocking in deeper now then yes, but only if you are planning to longtravel your front suspension too. I started out with drop brackets and stock front suspension and found that you really had to slow down quite a bit before you could turn because the front end tended to nosedive.

Now I am just a bit worried about the studs hitting
The studs I put in are only 1"
What clearance should I have for the studs and where is the best place to measure it?

I'm sure you can get nice used ones here for a fraction of the cost it will be to convert the drivers to the artic cat ones. Do they even fit on the shaft?
 
I am going to change to yamaha 7 tooth drivers anyone have any experience?
If I run smaller drivers should I also change the gearing?
 
yes you'll have to regear. thats a big jump from 9 to 7. alot of guys go to 8 for track clearance but 7.....havent heard from anyone that did it. for that matter this is the first i've even heard mention of a 7. are they the right pitch

i would say yes but what type of riding are you looking to do? do a search on 8tooth drivers or 8 tooth gearing you'll get lots of info. most of your ?s can get answered by the search feature.
 
Buy a set of kimpex anti ratchet drivers from royal they slide up to your old drivers so you dont have to remove anything exept the outer ones to install.
 
If you're running a 1 inch track and you plan to trail ride, don't go with smaller drivers. There's no point to doing that. Don't play with the gearing until you've ridden the sled for a while. Get used to it and if you want to try other gearing, that can keep you busy during the off season.

Like others have said the best option is to go back to stock yamaha drivers and 2.52 pitch track.

don't put 7's or 8's on unless you are planning on running a 1 1/4" lug or taller!!! Stay with the 9 tooth drivers
 
I agree with everyone else!!!!

stick with stock stock stock when it comes to gears and drivers and track pitch!!!

If you dont like the way it pulls or the top speed, then change one thing at a time!!!

Drivers=Gears=Clutching=Huge Headache with a new sled!!! :o| :o| :o|

After pulling the shaft out I can see where the track was rubbing on my little drive. Could be because the track was jumping the cogs but to be safe and for future track upgrades I will go with a 8 tooth driver.
I can't call out the member in question because I deleted all his messages and don't remember his name.
I'm sure if he is still on here he has read this and knows he is an A$$!!

Where else to order?
Any other Canadian parts place?
