2001 Srx 700 8BU-10 Setup

Had my srx out for its first test and tune since the new trail port. Felt strong but was over reving to 88-8900. Same setup as last year

Blue bender spring with shim
8bu10 loaded 4.5 4.5
Dalton 50/38
grn @80

switched helixes just for a laugh to my bender 50/38

Hits 8500 bang on and no higher. All helixs are clearly not created equal. not to say one is bad but one of the two of them has a different angle. seemes to work good but as always i still think there is more i can do.

you did exactly the right thing, ran the engine again with what was the same clutching, so you over reved now 400rpm, that means the engine is making more power....you got what you paid for! :2strokes:

also if looking for big topend speed start decreasing the secondary twist and the mph will come up

Awsome...feels good thus far ...still a little nervous about the carb settings going to try a few differnt plug checks. going for a 200 mile trip next weekend just wanna make sure im gonna be safe.

check the plugs, if your nervous about gas, jet it up a size its not gonna kill the power. Make sure the needles are raised to 4 th groove with both shims on top of clip, thats actually more important then the main, thats where you spend most of the time riding.

never hurts 1 bit to add octane booster, way cheaper then pistons!!!!

I've been preaching for a while that dalton helixs are weak and are really 4 deg less than what's engraved on them. Benders are aggressive and near right on, hence the reason for the rpm drop when you switched from the dalton to the bender.

i think the radius are not the same ...but they do not work the same thats for sure

What radius are you talking about exactly? The radius from the center of the helix, to the centerline of the radius thru the helix ramp? If so, there is no difference in radius between the bender or the dalton.

mean the time the angle stay on the first angle ....bender look to stay in first angle longer than dalton ...

Yes, bender holds initial angle slightly longer, but if you look to, the daltons are shallower overall.

so there hasn't been to much talk about how you guys with the 8bu10's are doing..guess maybe the lack of snow would be the issue this season why testing these weights are down .Haven/t tried my SRX yet this season and season is almost done already... :o|

we have a decent amount of snow here now. The 8bus work awsome and cant forsee me ever going back.
;)! NICE BUD. A OVER REV IS A GOOD THING (more power, motor needs more load) UNDER REV IS BAD THING (motor down on ponies). GLAD YA LIKE THEM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

sled pulling really hard with the 8bu-10 but i got a problem sled rpm is pretty high cruising midrange ...should i had weight in middle and remove from tip

hey blue that set up do rock but if u do some trail ride u will find some rpm trouble at higher speed loll

shouldn't be an issue.Ran it a little towards the end of last season..seemed fine.I may get brave and take the SRX on the River tomorrow..only thing is if something goes wrong,I'll be miles from home and no one to tow me back..that is what I am worried about..

didn't notice that.If I take the SRX out on the River,I will be using stock clutching first just to see if motor is pulling ok with it.has been a while..
