2001 Srx 700 8BU-10 Setup

HMMM...wonder if mabey i should try what i have first beacuse i was mistaken my helix is a 53/42 with 58 gram wieghts. what are you using for a primary spring and how much twist on your seconday.

We run either the WWW or the Blue/brown/blue primary spring 8BU10 weights with 4.5 gram rivet in tip with 1.2 gram washer, .85 rivet in mid. Secondary is a 51/43 with either a red or green spring at around 60 degrees, we use the green when trail riding and the red when running the gun. Back the spring tension off even further if you have a lot of roll on area.. Roll into it slowly if running the red at lower twist angles then 60 degrees..

Hey Dan, I ran something close to that set-up today and I think my arms are an inch longer now. Wicked mid range to top end pull, holeshots good too. Can't wait to try it on ice.

Tony we run the 8BU10 weight with tips loaded plus an extra 1.2 grams of washers, best helix finish angle for our sled was a 43 deg angle. This was tested on our track dyno!! Anything shallower lost us power.. Same sled ran 125.8 mph radar speed at the end of last season on a hacksaw track with 144 trail studs. Not saying your set up isn't right for your sled just making the point that not all these sleds will like an identical set up. You can put a person close on set up but there final results will depend on there own ability to fine tune the sled!!!
STOCK MOTOR DAN ? 3:16 (yammie tony)

Hey Blue monster whats your current set up. Starting to tune tomorow looking for a place to start? Ive got a bunch of 3.1 grams and 4.5s, when i purchased the weights they had 4.5s in each hole and a washer on each rivit, giving a total weight of 58gram. should i keep any of the current rivits in or start fresh. dont have a wide selection of rivits at this time so i dont want to drill out what i already have in?

What we used to do is run a small drill bit thru the rivot and grind some weight off the larger part of it untill you have taken out the same amount of weight each arm.

Than try it on the lake and if you needed more weight out run the next size drill bit thru.

Keeping track of were you have taken weight out you should be able to fiqure out what size rivot you will need.Or just run with the drilled out ones if you have it right.

It does sound like you could put 4.5 in the tip and the 3.1 in the start and try it than tune with a drill.

.

I have started with .85 inner and 4.5 with a .8 washer(all I have) with the 51/43.Have it at 70 wrap and over reving slightly to 8600,might go to 60 wrap..this is with green spring also.I am close enough and it pulls great.....

i think i will start frest with 3.1 inner and 4.5 outer. at least then i can drill the 3.1 down to what ever it seems a common consences that it needs a 4.5 in the tip. I have a 51/43 and the availablity of a 50/38 to try aswell...il keep postin results.

ok so i installed may weights tonight and had to try them out my set up is as follows

8BU 10 3.1gm inner
4.5 gm outer

WWW PRIMARY spring might be a wyw hard to tell
52/38 helix
green spring a 60

sled was spinning like crazy in the fresh snow so it was hard to tell how hard it pulled. the engagemant is 4000rpm..the engine jumps to 8000 rpm and you can feel the engine load hard then it slowly increases to 8600rpm a little over target. what can i do to get my rpms closer to target rpm and should it load up the engine at 8000rmp. im gonna look into some shims tomorow for my engament. First impressions...."different" .hhmmmm feels slow but it could be the conditions too.

u should try to set up your clutch on hard pack ......it will be mess up on looose snow.... 60 wrap will be to low

mine pulls really strong out of the hole, even with 120 studs..spin will still happen.Got my transfer adjusted so that the ski's just lift a little also, straps pulled in a little more also.I launch right to 8200 and climbs to 8500-8600 with green at 70 with 51/43 helix.I am goining to go green at 60 to get them rpm's down a tad on top.My set up is .85 inner and 4.5+ .8g washer outer hole.Couldn't find a heavier washer..which might have helped on top.Usually in milder temps I am 8500 dead on and in cooler temps slightly over to 8600.Can't complain at all and she pulls wicked to the top also..am happy.

engagement shims will raise the total rpm's a little also.I have w-w-w spring with 2 shims,my engagement is around 4300-4500..aprox.You want to put more of your weight to the tip possibly.

your rpm is 8200 so don't go down lower on wrap it will go down on rpm big time

then I would need a slight addition to the tip weight then..ok mod got ya..I'll leave this way for the rest of the season.I have no more rivets here to play with anyways..so will just ride until snow is gone... ;)!

here everything is gone lollll...the only thing we got here its ice grrrrrrrrrrrrr

we have about 3 feet here...almost to much...anyways im gonna try out a couple of helixs tomorow out at the strip with my current rivits. what primary spring came in the 01 srxs. I can really tel what i have it has the three dots but i can tell wether its www wyw yyy ...or wtf....gonna try (53/43)i think as it is stamed 9870c and a 54/42...and a couple more runs with the 52/38 currently installed.
