I just finished clearing all my code, now i have no more code on the meter but same story its dies under 2500/3000 rpm im pretty sure the crappy RM stator is in cause, 150 $ to the garbage i will try to find a yamaha stator as soon as possible, im 100 % sure my dealer here dont get any in stock, but i will makje some call to get one AS SOON A S POSSILBE.
Its a RM stator and pick up coil (new) but i put a other flywheel (oem yamaha) but used.
I think its the cause of all the lost evening in the garage trying to fix my sled.
Thanks

I will be waiting to hear if the oem stator fixes your problem because if it does, I think I will be in the same boat as you.

Just out of curiosity, did you clean the carbs. I don't remember reading whether you did or not. The only reason I ask is because mine is the same type of problem and I'm thinking my carbs need to be cleaned.

I just instaled my YAMAHA OEM STATOR and my viper start in a hurry now.
I will NEVER buy aftermaket part anymore what a crap i just put it right beside the oem and the aftermaket stator is smaller and not as much coil on it i will post picture later.
AFTERMARKET STATOR IS TOTAL CRAP
The things that make me go crazy is because its the first thing (stator) i have changed when i got this problem....
THANKS ALOT guy for helping me.
Happy holidays to all

Been following the post, glad you finally got it A lesson for all of us can be learned. Its OEM for a reason! May be more up front but cheaper in the end.

glad you fixed it up, nothing more frustrating then wiring especially when its a faulty part. ride safe!
OEM is the way to go. Glad you got it working!

Great thread here. I was riding my 02 viper last night. Was 20 miles down the trail on my first ride this year. We had stopped a few times and shut the sleds off. Everything was running perfectly. We stop a third time, i turn the sled off with the kill switch, sit 10 minutes, and it's dead. No spark at all. After going through as much of the electrical, checking connections, wiggling the wiring harness we ended up pulling it back.
Hopefully I don't have as much trouble as Phil lol All this information will be helpful in troubleshooting. I'll post back and let you guys know what I find out. I'm pretty sure it's a wiring harness rub through. I tried to inspect it last winter but had trouble pulling it all the way thru under the motor so i only inspected 75% of it.
