I agree with Tony...have no reason for any 2012's or 4 strokes...not worth the money to spend.I love the old iron, they have taken me this far so what is another 10 to 20 years gonna hurt...in some cases sleds are priced more then some cars.At least with cars you can go 12 months of the year, sleds on average 2 to 3 months..there is like 1/10 the material on a sled compared to a car...lol..ridicules pricing on sleds these days..there are a ton of good used sleds around and keep the 2 stroke sleds going....

the trick to ride rough trails with our sleds Tony is to have her wot pinned. That way you won't feel the bumps. We used to go thru ploughed fields wot with the leaf spring sleds..didn't find it uncomfortable..we were maniacs!!!
Got to be tough like the old days eh!!.today they make it to easy for riders, now that is not real sledding if you ask me.

I agree with you guys. Bought me a 1000 dollar somewhat fixer upper sx 700. Raised the seat putting a vector rear suspension in and long traveling the front so that it will or should ride like a new one. But got that triple sound and power that we all love. 4 stokers are way to pricey and still to heavy in my opinion

I love my old 2 strokes as well but trying to compare them to today's 4 strokes is not a fair comparison! The new sleds can run through bumps the old iron would feel like its going to break in half going through. My 835 SRX is a fun sled to drive but power wise it's tapped out around 190 hp. With my Apex where shooting for 350 to 400 hp on E 85 pump gas! Times are changing!

love my 2-stroke stuff too. still have a couple on the list to add to the stable (V-max 4, 440 srx) but I also plan on shelling out for an Apex soon. definately not brand new but still newer all the same. don't ever see me selling the current lot though.
A couple of bucks

I'm thinkin they tryed it on MYTHBUSTERS.
i saw that episode. lol i think they came back with mixed results. using cups full of water and recording how much water was lost going down a bumpy dirt track at high and low speeds. i think one of the times they came back with less water lost while going fast. ha ha.A couple of bucks said:I'm thinkin they tryed it on MYTHBUSTERS.
My first and only sled was a 1976 Merc 440 trail twister. I had it when I was a kid 25 years ago. I just purchased a used 98 SRX700. I have heard they are a rough ride, I figure it wont be any worse than the old Merc. Now we just need some SNOW in Iowa.

with Winters getting worse every year ..keeping the old iron makes lots of sense to me.Besides..as fuel and oil prices keep climbing into the future..makes no sense investing in a new sled to me.I can burn a lot of gas with the money I would save on buying a new sled..like around 20 years worth or so..by that time I'll be finished with sleds and in the ground...
