1. Yes , the TM carburetors works good on the Exciter engine....ramblnman said:1. Flatslides are the way to go on these Exciters.
The result is instant excelleration with the flatslides.
2. But what really woke this sled up was using the 95+96 primary/secondary clutches!
stanage said:Has ne1 ever changed the crank seals on an exciter themselves? Can I change the MAG side without ripping the cases apart?
ramblnman said:The info I have in my archives from my first Exciter with PSI single pipe are as follows:

* Polaris Pink spring.
ramblnman said:I believe you have too light of weight..
ramblnman said:the 10A polaris weights for the pipe setup shows that they weigh 58 grams..
I would put the 58 gram weights to er...

Just to clarify things......
Polaris 10-series clutch weight chart.

stanage said:Well, I'm out here testing. I took the hood off, so I could see the clutches.
They arent shiftng out all the way.
Belt isn't climbing in the primary, or going down the secondary.
I was also thinking of throwing in a blue primary spring and 58 gram weights.
58 gram weights are way to heavy for the Exciter engine !!stanage said:Ok, so I put the 58 gram weights,
Maximum revs at WOT: 6000 Rpm.
I need more RPM's to reach my peak power...
And man do I ever wish I had my 16/33 gears.
WRONG , The Polaris 10A does not weigh 58 gram !ramblnman said:Polaris 10A weights weighing 58 grams.
stanage said:I now down to around 6000 RPM at WOT.
It's almost as if I need less weight and a weaker spring,
so that I shift out completely.
I am under the impression I don't have enough power to create enough centrifugal force to fully expand the primary clutch.

Here are some clutching basic :stanage said:I need more RPM's to reach my peak power !
never said 10a polaris weighed 58 grams... if you read my recommendations it is self explanitary,it says with 3 grams added per psi instructions especially when the 48 gram weights he had in there were not overcoming the secondary, at the time i did not know there was a runnability problem until he posted the true r's it was turning and the vid of his sled i only posted this info based on my psi info that by the way i gave nicolai way back when he posted for all to see.. which i had lots of money and time in my first sled and dont mind sharing to try to help out peopleramblnman said:the info i have in my archives from my first exciter with porting/psi single pipe are as follows
pilot 42.5
airscrew 1 turn
stock slide cutaway 3.0
nozzle Q6
needle updated "82"
below15 degrees 4th clip pos
above 15 degrees 3rd clip pos
330 mj both carbs
blocked off powerjets
i never ran nothing but yamaha clutches but have info on comet set up
polaris pink spring
polaris 10A weights with 3 grams added
2 additional grams are needed if you are using the arms that came with the comet for your sled with psi pipe.
hope this helps!!
Lasse said:58 gram weights are way to heavy for the Exciter engine !!........ not according to the experts at psi but i never ran nothing but yamaha quality products..i am pro yamaha !!! certainly would never run comet stuff or polaris stuff on my beautiful yamaha's
