just let the blade do the cutting, and you should only go through a blade or 2. but they are mastercraft....I imagine you probably only paid $10-$20 for them though.
We just started getting more about 10 mins ago, just what there callin for!

i have a hunting camp north of madoc so I'm just waiting on some good snow to get in there. I was told there was 2 feet before the thaw came which would have made for some good riding. It's only January and we can still get some good snow and riding in Febuary and possible early March maybe. A couple of my buddies and I are planning on putting some money away this summer with the expectations of possibly doing a 4 day trip next winter to Quebec or maybe Cochrane New Liskerd area.

He also went to quebec at the end of this past December for 4 days and that trip cost him $1200+$160 for a pass. I think he went with 6or7 of his friends. just to give you an idea of what it might cost ya. they went to mt. tremblanc....I think that's how ya spell it. supposed to have taken them 7hrs, but took 11hrs because of that huge storm that went through on that Thursday.

One of my buddies went with guys from Iantomassi racing 2 years ago and said it cost him $650 to $700 to go for four days. he also said if we waited to go to quebec till the end of the winter we might be able to buy permits cheap from someone that isn't gonna use theres anymore.Cooper0809 said:my younger brother went to Cochrane last year with his buddies, not sure how much that trip cost him but he might be goin again this year. Quebec has a free ride day on February 9 which I will be taking advantage of.
My dad has gone riding in Quebec before and has never experenced such nice trails. Can't wait!

I've never been to quebec but I hear they do have awesome trails. I think Ontario has a free ride day as well on Family Day but I think I heard it was all weekend but I would verifi that with the OFSC before I went.O2viper700 said:Quebec has a free ride day on February 9 which I will be taking advantage of.

I would just be happy to get enough snow to ride here this year. I can't afford to go away anywhere riding this winter, my wife has suckered me into taking her and the boys south again in March for two weeks. That has eaten up all the money I had put away for sledding this winter lol. The things you do to keep them happy.

Happy wife, happy life.
I bought mine a place at the lake this summer and spent all my "mad" money renovating it. Closed it up for the winter and came home to her having the renovation bug. Time to renovate the house.
Holy frekin crap. A 1 room makeover with me providing ALL the labor still cost $2500. And that was just a bedroom. No new furnishings.
So I ran out quick and bought this old SRX to hide in the shop with.
Never thought it through to well. I'm working in a porta-shop because my shop is full of cottage crap. My man space has been invaded.
Back to topic....No new snow over night, but it looks like we have a good foot on the ground and were currently seeing a dusting coming down.

I've you got snow out there and really cold. There comes a limit how cold you're prepared to ride in. I draw the line after -25C her. The wind chill is a bit too much and frost bite is no fun. I had it one on full helmet. My lower cheeks swollen up like chipmunks. My Venture is much better in the cold then my old Mirage II I had but hasn't seen those temp since I got it. The handle bar heater can fry bacon wrapped around them I am sure. I keep it on the lowest setting and its plenty warm.bluemonster1 said:well we have the snow here..but the temps are in the -45 range now and for the rest of the week.So no riding .Everything is rock hard,my back is still sore from doing 20 km's on last Saturday.. so this is pathetic ...
The problem with it that cold your body has the limits even if you driving in arctic gear. I was out one night with a few guys and it was a least -27C plus wind chill a little cold air getting in the helmet. I BLINKED once on a bush logging road trail and one eyelid froze shut. Well bugger that I tried my hardest not to blink again. I couldn't get the eye to open up and if the other one went down I'd be blind in the dark. Them Maple trees I was zooming by all had my number. I got the sled stopped and sorted out my eyelid and was bifocal again. But that scared me. No fun when its that cold and things freeze up reall fast. You could not do any repairs if you had too at those temperature either. So you have to be extra careful not to break something or else.

told ya!!!! Yeah we never get what they tell us what is coming. It keeps scooting North or East of us most times. Now it is friggin cold windchills into -45 range all week now.Maybe Saturday warms up a bit to -17 temps.I don't have any issues with freezing while riding,my grips are hot,my BVS helmet works mint to eliminate fog since I wear glass's.Just don't think it is good for the sled in that temp. hitting all the hard drifts and maybe breaking something and have to walk home. Not worth it for me. I will sled if it is around -20 temps and sunny out.Last week I took a little ride and it was around -38 windchill..wasn't that terrible..but took it easy on the wot runs, keep rpms to around 8000 most times.I have jetted up both sleds this year 1 jet size up from stock..I am sure that will help.Cooper0809 said:didn't get that 15cm we were supposed to get, should've listened to ya Blue!

I had 15-20cm in parts around me after Christmas but due to wind some areas a bit more. I was out on the ATV going through about 1.5ft in deeper areas but in the open where there was no drift of accumulate it was less. That's not enough snow once you compress that down it barely covers the rocks on the trail bed. The skis will cut through and hit stones, rocks, dirt and branches under neath. A warm up to around freezing or slightly about and that uncompressed snow drops 3-6 inch in an afternoon. I figure we need 2-3ft of accumulation to build a base that will last a while but it needs topping up since most riders are track spinning kamikaze's on the trails the snow is dug and thrown everywhere but where you need it.

I just got back from a 6 hour ride on some nicely groomed trails and some not groomed yet. A couple deep mud/water holes, but not to bad.
The guys I was with said it's the best riding they've had in 3 years.
My van has another 4 inches on it since I left.
Stud issue is solved...atleast up to 100mph or so. Most of the roads had too much snow to get to top speeds.
Cant see across the street right now. About friken time.

-15 C for Saturday,so I guess I will get out a little even if it is rough out..just will ride slower and check things out.Unless we get like 2 feet of snow soon ,will be riding this rough bumpy stuff till Spring..not to exciting riding concrete feeling surface.River was a bit rough last week,so nothin will change there. No smooth areas now to open it up again,so SRX will sleep as the SXR will take the crap conditions...lol
