2014 sled anouncement

as if the new 2014 sled would be sitting in someone's garage like that..prbably just a guys build for himself..probably a AC guy causing stink.
The Yamaha garage that is.

stickin that motor in a cat chassis is a good place for it. maybe yamaha wouldnt be in 4th place if they built some good 2 stroke motors. and a decent chassis. hope yamaha does shutdown sled building. I wudnt buy a new yamie anyways. But i will ride my vmax-4 till i die.

I just watched the yamaha canada xtx video. I just love how he makes it sound like they built this sled and how much better it is. What a kick in the teeth to all the yamaha faithful.
I agree. I really was torn about the idea, now after seeing more details, I am disheartened by the new sled. I will try one out as a demo, but cat making this sled is not a good thing. I still love the nytro, and the Apex, and especially all 3 cylinder forms of the venture, but I don't like the way this is headed. The price certainly has now just went up a lot for not much performance increase. Even if it weighs less than the nytro, which it will by ~100 lbs, it still is a 130 HP class sled. 13k for 130 HP?

I look at it like I did the whole ford mustang vs Chevy camaro deal. The original stang was awesome in 65. 2 years later, threes camaro came out and pushed ford to make the mustang better. The two car companies went back and forth bettering each others cars each time. All in all, the public won by getting better vehicles, and competition made them stay competitive price wise too.

Let's just hope that doo and Polaris keep up the good fight.

[QUOTEmaybe this chassis Arctic was using never was an Arctic Cat chassis...but a Yamaha in Cats clothes all along!!!]

If it were a Yamaha chassis, and getting a yamaha motor, there would have been no reason to start as a cat.

I really cant believe how many guys are cool with this. I mean anybody but fricken cat....
I feel the same way. Anybody but cat. Cats have always been the lowest quality sled, at least since 84 when cat resurfaced after bankruptcy in what, 81? Then cat says they have their 50th anniversary? What about those years in the early 80's when there was no arctic cat? Not only do they make crappy sleds, but they have horrible math skills too. :-)

Well that does it for me. I'm out. I WILL NOT be riding a cat chassis around brainwashing my self that it's OK because its blue. No thanks. So now what? Totallyamacat.com? Now everybody things the cat chassis is cool. You guys are too easy... Guess I'm going back to polarisfiles or dootalk.
my viper and venom are now for sale. I will finish out my paid VIP membership here. Then selling out my collection. I'm not joking.
why would you sell your sleds?

He said that because someone said that the originally posted pictures were photochopped. Clearly they were real as I could tell. Those that use PS backed up thier credibility as you couldn't see tell take PS traits. Troll or not, he was spot on.

hey Andy one good thing. Now you don't have to try and beat them F7's with your SRX anymore. You are now one big family..You get a 4 stroke YamiCat and race a 4 stroke um..YamiCat(CatYami)..it will all be the same...no one can beat anyone now..it will all be the same weight, same HP same CRAP...lol.Maybe you can pu a new SRX next year with a 800 in house Cat 2 stroke in it...this is never gonna end now..time to move on....

hmmmmm.....

2013 nytro 512lbs dry...........about 572lbs wet ready to ride

2013 a/c f1100 (same chassis as the new viper is off of)

518lbs dry.......about 598lbs wet ready to ride- 2 cylinder 4 stroke

so we add another cylinder to the engine with the nytro engine and what do you have? 600lb+ wet ready to ride snowmobile and 130hp and it cost almost $15,000!! :dunno:

original viper: 2002, 128hp 2 stroke triple with 489lbs dry weight...........approx wet ready to ride 545lb, cost $6200......... :itchy:

In Canada a Nytro will be $13,999 ,a viper will be 14,999 and Apex will be $15,500 plus tax's..Now if you can get 20 more HP with an Apex for $1,500..would you do it???Nytro and Viper have same engines, but Nytro is $1000 cheaper..Not exactly a steal to buy.I am sure the sled makers will price them selves out of business soon..How on earth do they expect young guys to buy a new sled. This will only push used sled prices up.I personally will never buy a new sled in my life now,I have 2 that fill the Bill for me..can't complain and the 2 of them cost me $7700 originally to purchase..half the price of one new one..but my insurance is basic and cheap also..like $84 a piece where a new sled the insurance is around $700/750 and up..ah I will stick to my 2 strokes thankyou and have fun wrenching at the same time.I never had electric start or reverse in any sled yet and who really cares about that anyways..adds more weight .Both my sleds are running perfect now and I am just going to put on more miles on them with the money I could of spent on new stuff..keep the old iron going guys...

Its yamahas new business model.Supply powertrains(already designed)to an otherside source while phasing out the models built in japan(reason they got very little changes, heavy discounts).RnD cost are saved and the quality of the yamahas built by cat will be subpar. This in turn will cause more warranty claims which will equal more business for the service department. Its a model that BRP has major success with.In 10 years time we will look back and wonder why yamaha stop building sleds in japan, and wish for them like the two-stroke sleds they once produced.

I agree with you 100%. The Arctic Cat plant will NEVER be able to duplicate the quality build the Yamaha Japan plant has done since the beginning of time. I have always said that Arctic Cats should be distributed by Ace Hardware stores, about the same thing quality wise.

Bill

You guys can call it however you like. But the bottom line is you'll be riding an Arctic cat. When Suzuki made the motors were they driving cats or Suzuki's? Looks like a lot of cat fans coming out of the closet here. Maybe all the big 4 should team up and we all get the same sled with differaent stickers. Everybody gets a trophy like t ball these days.

If Yamaha can't turn a profit with their own chassis/motor combinations. Just admit it and get out. This is kind of demeaning to the Yamaha fan base. Oh well I like 2 strokes better anyway.
