2014 sled anouncement

Well, Imho, If Yamaha is using cats chassis design, it cuts the cost of R&D for yamaha to design and test a new chassis...(brings the cost of the product down some) THE BIG question is, How LONG has Yamaha been working on the thought of using what they just introduced??? Did they work the bugs out of the "weak" areas???

Not really sure what to think yet. I don't see why Yamaha couldn't just design their own new chassis instead of going to Cat. Unless they're in it for the money of selling more sleds and more engines and not having to design a new chassis which makes sense in the short term. If they indeed move all manufacturing to the US in a couple years (atleast the chassis) then hopefully by then they can turn Cats poor fit and finish around. In the mean time I think its one badass looking sled.

I LIKE the looks of this sled in RED!!! SEXY!

Now if we could get a ford truck with a cummins engine, allison transmission and chevy rear end..... er leave that for another day.

I hope this gets REAL competitive with doo and poo and yamaha comes out with a super crazy SRX when the time comes and leaves the competion in the dust!! Im still waiting for a Yamaha Raptor 1000.

yup I see them bringing back the SRX as well, they sold extremely well in 97. we need boost or a 2 stroke though

disapointed it's not a 2 strokes
the look is good, but i miss the look of old srx's sport type, seems to me that we'll never see that kind on sled anymore :(

Wow not sure what to think here? I dont know if this is genius or pure BS.... So my question is if I were to buy a blue one from the Yammi dealer, and my cat buddy goes and buys a green one from the cat dealer. Is there a difference other than color and decals?

Oh and can a Mod make that cat Troll go away!!!

One thing about Arctic Cat...they won't be satisfied with the relatively low HP the Nitro engine puts out for very long.
These new Vipers need 170+++ hp at least.

if Yamaha was in 4th place selling sleds..this would be their advantage to move up sales probably..still AC will come out of this smiling since they can offer their sleds with 2 or 4 stroke motors. The choice is up to the consumer now.
Oh yeah! I wander what doo and poo are thinking right now..I am sure they will plan to out do this now...to stay in #1 position doo will come out with a complete new version next year..oh yeah..with a Yami motor of course.Maybe Yami should supply everyone with motors..at least they will be reliable and let them duke it out for the chassis and suspensions..etc..Yami wins again.

Im hope new engines/options will happen in the future. Maybe a new srx, why not.
Im a bit surprised though to see this happen as Yamaha has the technology and resources to make a 100% new sled.
But in reality sleds are a very small part of their company and I would not be surprised if its the beginning of the end for their implication in building snowmobiles. They see global warming, small market (for them), maybe not that profitable, why not just exit and just build engines for an other manufacturer medium term?

I think the new sled looks very good and will perform the same. Guys racing these will be more competitive. The things everybody were whining about on the nytro are not pretty much fixed. As long as its a yami drivetrain these things should be as tough as the poos/doos.

But like pre-64 Winchesters, there will be pre-14 Yamahas.

I was thinking that to..where is the HP the consumers want..got to match existing ratings out there now..Now Doo will probably make a 200 HP motor in their next line up..lol

If you do buy one, better go through and do a bolt check...lol. one of the recalls to the this chassis was checking torque of all bolts and nuts in the rear suspension. God I hope Yamaha's reliability isn't tarnished by this move.

Btw, a ford is not a Chevy BC someone put a Chevy symbol on it. Very dissapointed here. I'm going to go buy a Yamaha piano and play a sad song and start crying while wearing my snowmobile gear. Lol. I'm going to the poo side. I hear they come with a free roll of toilet paper.

Deals of this magnitude are not hatched over night and I suspect that Yamaha was involved at many levels, financially as well, with the development of the Yamacat chassis as the seemingly rapid adjustment to installing the Yamaha 3 cylinder engine would not be possible.
Arctic Cat has known for some time that their Suzuki collaberation was coming to an end. Just imagine if they announced two years ago that in 2014 cat would be running Yamaha engines...who would have purchased a 2012 or 2013 Cat?
There is always more to deals like this then initially meets the eye...maybe this chassis Arctic was using never was an Arctic Cat chassis...but a Yamaha in Cats clothes all along!!!
I am beginning to think this is what has actually occured.

This is on par of what I was trying to say earlier....
Does anyone remember the belly aching of when Yamaha came out with the front wishbone suspension on the phazer/Nytro??? I think I remember a cat comment or two... NOW LOOK!...

[QUOTEmaybe this chassis Arctic was using never was an Arctic Cat chassis...but a Yamaha in Cats clothes all along!!!]

If it were a Yamaha chassis, and getting a yamaha motor, there would have been no reason to start as a cat.

I really cant believe how many guys are cool with this. I mean anybody but fricken cat....

Wish you were right....hahaha!
I knew as soon as that first pic was leaked it was real. I assumed the nytro motor would be in it, just did not know if there would be a turbo or supercharger on it yet. I am glad that Yamaha handled all the clutching and motors though. Now we will see if yami can fix cats clutching belt issues.
