Final decision of long tracking my 600

on to the wheels today and then will tension the track.Will probably hang my 22 lb weight off the track and give it 1 3/8 sag for now.As super1 said..track will stretch eventually.Thanks for all the hints and tips everyone..it does look cool.
 
got my idler wheels on today as well I fitted a cross shaft between the rails at the rear where the old axle used to be to give the skid extra support at the point where the rails are at 121" and going to 144" via tip up rail extensions.

finally got new coolant lines and installed them.And went to Post office to pu my viper long coolant covers.It was a little challenge how to make them and bumper cover fit.Didn't really want to cut out the covers,so trimmed bumper cover until it fit nicely.It is the best I could think of doing.I ended up painting the covers with Blue Krylon Fusion spray paint for plastics.I have used this paint on my belly pans 5 years ago and it is still holding good.
So now I have to mix some coolant and fill her up.I didn't want a mess when bleeding thru the rear bleed hole.You know it will run down the top of the tunnel and go everywhere on the exchanger down to the track.Searched for a while and actually found a fitting that is the same size thread size as the bleed screw,and attached a flexible line to turn it down away from everything and into a bucket..hope it works.It is still cold here and a lot of snow yet,hoping to take her for a spin by the weekend or earlier..

no I didn't go yet.Didn't even have a chance to mix new coolant yet and bleed system.Had an emergency last few days with my Septic Tank Pump switch malfunctioning,tank was to full and almost back up thru drain hole,toilets were bubbling when flushing.Not to easy removing old switch underground(cable to tank) and installing new .But after a hard time with it yesterday..it is working again.
I am going to install the Blue Snow Flap today and adjust track tension,and if weather permits ..mix coolant and bleed sysytem.Weather has been aweful last few days,high North winds and we were -11C last night.
My birthday is at the end of April and this will be the first time ever that I can remember we have lots of snow left on ther ground yet.I still have 3 to 4 feet behind my place in the field and farmers field are still covered.Crazy stuff.
 
well got the sled out on the snow today.Put 14 km's on it.It was above zero and snow was sugary.I went thru the deep stuff today and the sled performed well.There was not even a chance of getting her stuck.If I went thru this stuff today with the 121,I would of just be dropping into the snow and dig down.The gearing seems to be good at 19/39.Man when I nail it from a start or from a slow cruise that track really bits in and my skis come up easy 1 to 2 feet.I love it .Took some up and down snow banks around the tree line,go up nail it and come down,punch it and she just shoots and the ski's stay on top and then carving the wet deep snow was a breeze.If I jump off the sled into this snow I go way past my knees easy like.The snow is wet and loose.So I am impressed with the way it floats over.Only thing the steering is not there now,maybe because the ski's can't bite into this crap snow,it push's more.I could pull straps tighter,but for now not much I can test.I will need to ride on a good hard packed base next season and see what the ski's do.I will be buying the 7 inch SLP Powder Pros also for the sled.Man did I ever get the clutch's hot running in this mushy snow today.The track already stretched a little and hangs down more,so will have to re tension it.That track really impress's me with its bite.With the 121 I would of been digging down and perhaps get stuck.The Cobra kept the sled on top and pull's amazingly well.

Looks good Doug.
Had the same problem of not turning when I did my Viper.
Adjusted everything I could to make it turn , Finally got it to bite in the hard pack but it rode like a brick. Put some SnowTrackers on, adjusted everything back to normal and it was all good.

well I think the snow being like it is now,it would be a little harder for skis to bite,the snow was slushy/sugary..no place for the carbides to bite into..I will order my new skis first (SLP -Powder Pros )and see how they work before I do anything else for adjustments. The bearings have been re-packed already for next season.According to the 600 MM I should do some slight clutching changes.The MM uses a 43 helix,I have the 47.Not sure what the difference will be.And the MM uses a different primary spring as well,same weights.
Yes Bob it was a project that took a little longer then I thought ,especially getting that skid in..but all works good now.For the future I may keep my eyes open for a set of triple pipes or a complete used 700 motor.
I don't really know what pipes go good for a 600,gas mileage will suffer I guess as well.For now it will be my ditch banger/drift buster sled.I will be putting SRX back to bone stock suspenstion and everything,just will run it on good weather and good snow condition days.With more snow around I will be riding the SXR more.I could only imagine if I took out the SRX yesterday and hit that deep stuff,I would of sunk it down...lol

Awesome blue, glad it tested out well. It looks really good with the blue flap and bumper covers. That track is awesome isnt it. Bites, floats, whatever you ask it to do. Good job again!
 
yep everything worked out great.Everything is still in one piece.Can't wait till next season to really try it out to see what it can really do.
I will be getting my stepson's spare 700 motor he bought cheap from a guy who blew i cyl and piston.I want to rip it apart and see if the crank is any good yet and if cyl and heads are still fine.It is from a 97 Yami,and if all pans out..I may rebuild it to its original form and posiibly replace my 600 with it..will think about it anyways.
The Cobra track sure is nice and looks way better then a Ripsaw track for sure,looks durable and tough.Glad I found one cheap enough.Thanks super1 for all your help.Still want to find out more about the alum flat bar you suggested to run along the tunnel to the extension.Will that just run along the bottom edge?? If you have a pic in the future,maybe that would explain more.
Now am on to the SRX,skid is out..painting,bearing to be re- packed and trying to repair my front heat exchanger protector so I can run studs again and other things.
