Finally got an srx,
It's in nice shape and has a kimpex ultimate traction track with 144 woodsy studs
I gotta spend some time cleaning it up to my liking but here it is

I love my 01 200 miles away from 10,000 runs like day she was new. Just polished pipes belt gaurd coolant rail and stripped and polished tunnel. Dieing for winter 5 more rent/mortgage payments to go

;)! Do you have pics if the stripped tunnel?

I'm gonna pull everything apart get it ready for winter, clean/polish make it look like new.
And I'm puting my viper seat, rear bumper, bumper cover and blue snow flap on also.

If your going to sand and paint your pipes and short cylinder pipes I'd recommend PJ1 fast black,it's rated for something like 1500 or 1700*. It's a flat finish rather than the satin of the factory paint but as long as it's cured properly and the pipes are prepped right it'll last great.

Yes I'm planing on painting the short cylinder pipes and the
Section of pipes you see in the pic, the paint on the other end is good still.

I'm gonna do what you recommended because I've never had great success painting pipes, they only seem to last a season or so.
How many coats would you recommend?

Thanks for the tip!

If you can, I'd recommend sand blasting them rather than sanding to get all the old paint from around the welds/nooks/crannys. As FB suggests, the JP1 paint works well if you follow the instructions to the letter including washing them after blasting and wiping with thinner.

I baked the short outlets in my wood stove in three stages - I slid them on some bar stock and placed them above the flames inside the stove (there is a little shelf inside my wood burner that holds the fire brick in place). First for 30 minutes over coals, then added some wood and opened the flue half way for 30 minutes then full open flue for another 30 minutes. I did the same thing to the pipe ends but wasn't able to close the stove door so they only saw one stage.

The instructions on the can says you can do the same by installing and running the engine in three stages but if you do this, make sure to wear clean gloves during the install. If you get any oil or greasey finger prints on the paint before baking the paint will flake off. I suppose you could also use painter's tape over the new paint to protect during installation but I haven't tried it.

Three years later and it' still holding up well.

Ya it's fairly clean to start with but if you look at my old viper you'll see how fussy I am

Anybody have luck running 96 studs?
The track has 144 but I don't like studs on the outside belts and was thinking of taking them off and running the remaining 96 down the middle.
I've never had a sled with studs before
