Musselman's SRX Project

Great thread! Can't wait to see what you have lined up! I've got my bowl of popcorn ready to go for this one. Winters a comin'!!

Thought I would finally give you guys an update. I have been working hard on this this sled and haven't had much time to post.

I have been making some good progress this year and plan to be done around the beginning of December. Below are some pictures and explanations on what I have on the go.

My recoil came apart last year and took out the stator and flywheel, so I bough a nice used flywheel and recoil off a viper, shown below.

Installed new grip warmers and grips, went with RSI stuff

Getting the rear suspension ready, need to change the mount points as they were not correct for the M-20 since it is different than the M-10

Going to install the on-board compressor for the suspension as well, I squeezed it in on the RH side of the nose of the sled, you can see it below.

I also need to install the air pressure gauge and switch for the compressor. Going to put the gauge on the LH side of the dash and the switch will go in the hood on the upper LH side above the warning label.

How do you hide all your original wholes in the tunnel form pre existing suspensions? build is stinkin AWESOME!

I'm going to add a thin stainless plate to the outside of the tunnel to cover all the holes and also add some support. This will hopefully be the final place for this suspension.

Here are a few progress pics, got my air gauge installed as well as the air switch and airlines. Also got the rear suspension holes located and am in the process of making some stainless support plates for the tunnel. I'm going to have to change that white gauge though, looks very out of place.

I went through the thread, very beautiful sled man!! I was curious to know about your rear cooler, what did you use? A stock SRX one or a Viper mountain cooler?

Thanks man, I used a mountain max cooler for the first year with reducers for the smaller inlets. Never had any trouble with overheating but decided to go to a mountain viper rear cooler so the hose size would match up and for the extra capacity. So far it has worked great with no overheating at all.

Thanks! im gonna see how I can get my SRX heat exchanger to fit, then go from there. I hope my sled ends up looking something like yous lol ...

I finished up my sled last night... now once istart driving it, i want to start playing with the clutching and gearing ... are you still gear stock? And your clutches?

My gearing is stock but I have 8 tooth drive sprockets so that geared it down a bit. Last year had a bad over-rev so this year I put 4.5g rivets in the inner hole on stock weights with a WWW spring. For the secondary I'm going to try a green spring with the stock helix at 70 wrap. The next step will be a new helix if I don't like how this turns out.

I've got the 4.5 rivets with the green secondary spring in mine, I had a 51/45 helix and went back to the stock helix, I like the feel of the stock helix in mine.

I'm hoping the stock helix will work but I may still have an over-rev since I am geared down, in that case I will look for a more aggressive helix.
