.... Just remember,, the word PENITENTIARY comes right after the word "PENIS" in the dictionary!!!

Adding oil to a tank of gas on a fresh rebuild is a GREAT IDEA....Leave the oil pump setting alone... Burning more oil actually helps the rings / bores from getting TOO HOT and changing the HARDNESS of the piston rings!!! OIL does effect the cleanliness of powervalves.... The FLASH POINT of oil and the cylinder temperatures have some effect and so does the DRIVING HABITS and trail/riding conditions also have to play into effect.. IT PISSES ME OFF when people corelate OIL BRANDS WITH carbon deposits on powervalves...bluewho said:What is your take gary on adding oil to a tank of gas after a rebuild.
Leaveing the pump on stock setting?Leaner?
Does oil really effect power valves or is all the gas...blowby of a older moter....hotter pipes..

Fuel quality is more relative to carbon deposits than what people realize. Detergent-dispersants such as polybutene succinimide greatly reduce carbon deposits in top tier gasolines....
Thanks UNCHAINED!!! It's the COMBINATION of JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING that either reduces or causes buildup... I'll tell you guys a secret.. OIL that SMOKES has a BETTER FLASH POINT than oil that doesnt... The HIGHER the flash point,, the BETTER detergent package.. One of these days I will tell you SOMETHING about detergent packages,,, and,,, if you've read some of my earlier posts on SUMMER STORAGE of a snowmobile and you've read about AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUIDS and their effect on carbon deposits and their ability to "preserve" the emmolients in Nitrile and Butyl rubbers,, and the elastomer preservation properties,,, you PROBABLY could GUESS just WHERE I AM GOING with the WHOLE "SMOKING OIL versus "non smoking" DEBATE which we are GOING TO HAVE within the NEXT WEEK OR SO,,, when I get my friends 83 Porsche finished (timing belt, water pump, tensioners,etc,etc,etc,)... I haven't PISSED people off lately and its ABOUT TIME AGAIN!!!! I suppose it's JUST MY NATURE.... Gary Oles nosboy

The HIGHER the flash point,, the BETTER the detergent package is NOT EXACTLY a COMPLETELY TRUE STATEMENT and ,, for the sake of an arguement,, lets just say that REALLY EXPENSIVE oils USUALLY have a higher flash point AND a better additive package than CHEAPER OILS
SO,, the PRICE of the oil USUALLY MEANS that the additive package COSTS MORE to produce and add to the "base stock".. Yes,,there are different base stocks and also different additive packages.... As different as NIGHT AND DAY... Ask some of our ILLUSTRIOUS AMSOIL DEALERS ( some who have been around since the beginning) and ask them about a company called "ESTERLUBE".... Maybe some of them will chime in...

Ya but Nosboy, the name "Amsoil" just sounds so dang cool, unlike Klotz, which just absolutely reminds me of clutz, like maybe some clutz added the wrong crap into the oil, or that a bunch of clutz's are making the stuff.
That name is just plain bad marketing..........
I'll stick to Amsoil, which has a much cooler name. It also helps I was great friends with a few of the Amatuzios when I was younger.......

If your point is that I couldn't drive your 10 second door slammer to the corner store, no, I don't see your point. Well, maybe if you didn't fuel it first perhaps.
You make a lot of assumptions. I'm sure you know what happens when you do that.
...and you have me a bit confused (not hard to do). Are you saying you run Klotz in your trail sled? I thought it was the bees knees for race sleds but not so much for the trail. Or is it that Klotz only works well in YOUR trail sled.
Dude, you're so predictable. Did you also serve in Vietnam?
nosboy said:Well,,, 1st of all,, your trail sled is NOT A RACE SLED and does not ACT the same way!!! I have a RACE CAR and if I let you take it to the local AUTO PARTS STORE,, you and it would NEVER MAKE IT!!! But yet it can run 140MPH in 10 seconds FLAT (almost).. Do you see my point????

nosboy said:The only reason that I DON'T LIKE CASTROL,,, is because JOHN FORCE gets it for FREE and I HAVE TO PAY for the stuff!!! Do you know why JOHN FORCE uses AUTOLITE SPARK PLUGS?????? Because they're FREE also!!!!!! Don't mind me,,, just HATEIN!!!
Actually, it's because Fram/Autolite pay him to use them which equates to more than just free spark plugs. But changing 16 plugs per round the spark plug budget is substantial.
Always had good results with them in passanger car applications. I use them in my Cuda as well.
My piston port XCR didn't like them though. Champions, go figure.
Oh yeah, weren't we talking about oil?

Seems like a regular 2 stroke engine can't get the best of both worlds. Clean and lubricated.
We want a good lubricating oil to protect the internals but has to burn easily so it doesn't leave sludge... When it does burn and escape through the exhaust we don't want it to create smoke...
Then we put in quality fuel that has lot's of detergent (or we add our own in the fuel tank) to prevent/remove carbon deposit and keep our carburetor clean. But the more detergent we run the harder it is on the oil.
Seems contradictory many ways you look at it.

KLOTZ super Techniplate (with castor oil) is WHAT I was refering to in a race application.... SNOMOFO,,,,, PLEASE read the WHOLE paragraph and don't PICK just what you THINK you read!!!
Klotz makes TRAIL SLED oil too... FYI

Since my reading comprehension is in question (paragraph, you mean as in sentence structure?... you funny guy), I went back and read it a couple times which is what I suggest you do also. There is no mention of two oils race and trail.
Right or wrong, folks base thier opinions of others on the way they communicate.
I think you could bring a lot to the table and you have, but if you're out to piss folks off which is what you said you want, why bother? I could get the same info from actual chemists that didn't spend the night in a Holiday Inn without the crude editorial.
I spoze I could just not read the thread but it's like a train wreck... you just gotta watch.
Maybe it's ME!!! Super techniplate is HORRIBLE for trail sleds ( bean oil) Klotz BENOL or CASTROL "R" is also BEAN OIL and SHOULD NEVER be used for trail sleds.. KLOTZ makes trail friendly snowmobile oil.. Sorry for the MISINFORMATION... Gary Oles nosboy
Group 5 (ester based synthetic oils) DO NOT mix easily with gasoline and WILL NOT interact (or mix ) with group 1 thru 4 oils... I don't care WHO tells you they will...
