This is something to complain about....
Apex GT 150 hp 557 LBS $11,199.00
Mach z 172 hp 529 LBS $11,149.00
F 1000 SNO PRO 162 hp 515 LBS $11,899.00
Also i read in a magazine that the F1000 can be easily boosted to 187 hp with only a few mods (intake, exaust, and efi addjustment). Do you guys feel yamaha is slowly falling farther behind in the hp range. I know yamaha is very conservative but still i am expecting atleast 175hp sled for 08. Yamaha is Also the most heavy and the least power. I know you guys are going to say" Ya but it is a 4 stroke. I dont care I want power with putting a turbo on.
One more if they came out with a apex with a 175 hp they should call it the APEX srx. kinda like the phazer bringing back the old sled names and i like srx's. I want your comments.

i couldent agree with you more.... for the same price as a 4 stroke yam i can get the sno pro or something similar with alot more power than the yam..next year if yamaha doesent bring something else faster out il pick up a bombardier or ac and keep my srx as a second sled

For most there is no need for that kind of HP and the Apex fits most people that want great ride and great power.

there should be choices i think with all kinds of Varieties of engines for sleds. Depending on the person for whitch amount of Hp Wanted for what they want the sled for. that would be awesome

The new mach has 172hp?? Jeez, they stepped it up quite a bit. Can't say i'm dissappointed in yamaha, as you can mod the crap out of em to make tons of hp and still be reliable, and the looks are still cool too (not like the new Firecats) but i do agree that they're starting to fall behind in the power to weight department. I'm wondering if they're counting on the EPA stuff to exclude 2 strokes and then we'll see what all the other brand loyalists are saying about yamaha, with the huge leap they'll have on everybody else.. but that time hasn't come yet. Until then... I don't have the money to buy a new sled yet anyway, so I can't be bothered lol.

in real life the apex is quite a bit cheaper than the mach. try getting a new mach for $8,600 like i paid for my new attak. and besides, the machs have had a ton of issues and i dont even need to tell you about cats and their lack of reliability. anyways, for the price difference you could throw a 60 h.p. shot of nitrous on the apex and destroy them both!
I wouldnt go tooting the F-1000s horn quite yet, lets wait and see how many problems they have this year first. There's alot on ex-mach riders on the ty4stroke side that came over because of problems with the Mach, and they are very happy they did.

I agree. Do you know the speeds you can reach with 150hp? It's crazy! 120hp is plenty for anyone. I'm more concerned with a sled's suspension than it's hp.
Seems these days that everyone is concerned about getting to the end of the lake first. Why not slow down and enjoy the outdoors instead of making it a blur.
Cheers.

you can't compare with "a few mods". if your gonna compare you have to compare straight up. as soon as you open that crate. no "ifs, ands, or buts" about it. everybody knows what manufacturer has the most reliable sleds available, as well as ergos, and fit and finish. if your gonna compare horsepower, i think you should also include the torque, the mpg, and the maintenance cycles as well. you can't just look at the "cover of the book". if your dissapointed in yamaha, i don't see a need to say anything about it, show how you feel buy not buying a yamaha. only then will you know whether you are dissapointed or not, after owning one of the other sleds. so sure, if one were look at those numbers and didn't know anything else about sleds other than those numbers you show (assuming they are correct, i could beg to differ on some) then yes the person would obviously pick the apex last. look at the whole picture before you decide. yamaha's sales aren't hurting if i remember. like my dad says "the proof is in the pudding"...

I tell you one thing...drive them all and then decide if you think Yamaha is falling behind...I think you will really surprized!!! On TY4Stroke, we have all of them coming back to Yamaha

Trail Riders down talking Yamaha:
Ride a 150hp sled through the woods with it pinned the whole time and see where you need up. Bet you end up smashed into a tree some where. Just cause someone has more HP than you doesnt mean they can ride as fast as you. Yea that extra power will shine on the lake but trail riding all depends on experience and set up. But thats MO

haha! have you ran the nitrous yet?ejcamaro said:iroc beat me!!
Big difference - 2 stroke vs 4 stroke. Power to weight may be better on the other models but the reliability of the engines are far less than that of the Yammi.
And no, I am not dissapointed. When my SRX sells I will be buying an Apex or Attak

I know about the problems with the mach z's (brp:bring rings & pistons) But i am just saying for stock power... Dont get me wrong i am blue blooded. I love yamaha with a passion. but just little dissapointed with power. I just think that they should maybe come out with a sled more stock hp as say a H.O model just to have the option. Even the phazer was a dissapointment to me. 80hp? i thought atleast 100 and more like 115. But i like to go fast and i probably do 2/3's lake runnning and 1/3 trail.

exactly! i rode the competition before buying my attak and the only thing close was a renegade 800. it was still a very nice sled, but too rider forward for my bad knees. and besides, the genesis 150 is just plain awesome! cats sound good on paper, but if you hop on one you will realize what junk they are. there are zip ties holding major components on. heck, the new ones arent even painted, just colored plastic!MrSled said:I tell you one thing...drive them all and then decide if you think Yamaha is falling behind...I think you will really surprized!!! 2001SRX=fast - I have to ask, have you spent any seat time on an Apex? - it does not sound like you have - like someone already said, there is more to a book than it's cover - pure weight/HP numbers don't mean a whole lot in the real world - put your butt on an Apex for a day or two and I think you will be pleasantly surprised - race that Mach for 1000' and see where that 20-40 lbs and 20 HP difference is at - again, I think you will be pleasantly surprised - give it another 10 HP (which I suspect Yamaha might just do) with some additional weight savings and if will be kicking major as*!! - Yamaha is going to continue to refine their sleds and don't think for one minute we have seen all they have to offer us for the future - they have a history of being a step behind the competition just before they make a huge leap ahead of them!! - I'm excited about the next 3-5 years!!
I think that it is incredible that Yamaha can actually build a 4-stroke sled that competes on both price and performance with 2-stroke offerings from other manufacturers. If you know anything about designing a 4-stroke drivetrain versus a 2-stroke drivetrain, you should see my point.
I would wait to see what the F1000 can actually do before making a comparison including it.
The Mach is an incredible sled in it's own right, but is saddled with the poor publicity that a number of common customer problems brings.
Like Tom said, ya gotta ride 'em . . . Then decide for yourself.

another good point. compare the features and technology and its the best bargain in the industry! 5 valve heads, titanium exhaust components, magnesium chaincase cover, 4 piston caliper. the list goes on! its also the little things like an electric fuel gauge. its nice not hearing a float banging around or when filling up and dripping gas all over and setting it on you dirty snow covered running board, or having to pull start it.Ding said:I think that it is incredible that Yamaha can actually build a 4-stroke sled that competes on both price and performance with 2-stroke offerings from other manufacturers. Dont you guys think that there should be a higher Hp model? like a h.o version or no. Are you able to even pull start a 4 cylinder 4 stroke???
