Viper is On the go... Deto Around 7500-8000

kk, Good tips. Sled is warming up now. I will drive that sucker clean hahaha!!! i just can't forget to check oil level to see if shes gettin her oil. *Yes i call my sled and everythign else with a motor a She or a Her* LOL!!

check out the working log soon :) im very impressed with the sled im getting ALOT of looks!! hahaha!! hopefully i can keep this thread live.

thanks for the reply guys and good iformation:)

Yes never run anything but the highest test fuel you can find, with the viper CDI it ALMOST needs race fuel to control detonation. Its that close of a line so if you have anything less then 92 octane in there get it out asap and get good fresh stuff in. Also the oil in the gas is realy leaning you out even jetted as fat as you are right now.

Get yoru gas pure and clean and then it should be pig rich and be stumbling not running well, then you'll start to jet down.

AJ, dont run the sled with that fuel in it. this is one of the reasons a burn down will occur, put in some race fuel with premium. mix about 4:1 premium to race fuel. take that crappy fuel out of the sled.

well then, that sounds right. Well My Ol Man is going to goose tomorow maybe he can get some Race gas from you to bring back for me? just a enought to get by for a month or so.

i didn't know the viper timing WAS that bad when it comes to Pipes and Rpm... wow. thanks for the tips guys! thanks aLOT!

Right now im burning all the gas outta it on a low Rpm.

If you have stock compression and a stock motor you shouldn't have to run race fuel.

You don't need race fuel. Just be sure it's not lean. I heard somewhere that aftermarket pipes can trigger the DETO sensor, and there is an aftermarket sensor or head mod that cures this.

He's just running the one tank of race fuel to get rid of the regular crap gas he has in it. Not planning on running it after he burns the old gas out.

Bender told me (for what it's worth) that the Viper with DCS will not work with their pipes without their head mod. Told me the sled would rev to about 6600 and the DCS would come on. I have a set of Bender pipes sitting in the garage for my 04 Viper that I am waiting until I can get the head situation taken care of before I install. IIRC they told me 167.5/55 for my area. Upper Michigan, about 1400 ft or so...

bender Head mod?

so what your saying to cure this problam i need to send my head to bender to cut? why is it i never heard of this before? this is the first time i've heard of someone sending out there viper head for the Cure? well i have 2 heads 1 with DCS and one without. How do i get ahold of bender Online? do they have a place where i can send them an email to getsome more information on it? now im really confused, shall i keep my sled off until i get this head mod done or..... burn all the gas and take it for a Re-try. Maybe your right because i had the same problam Last year.

Any Info On this will be awesome!!

Where do you have your carb vent lines I remember some people had a problem with that they where routed them down below the carbs instead of the air box because the air in the air box at higher speed where leaning the jetting out.

Ryan, My vent lines run threw the airbox. I also have a holtzmen Vari-Flow, If it matters. I emailed bender just then to see if i can find out an answer about the head mod.

Is there something i can do with the vent lines? Do you think its helping the DCS go off?

ryan, i did check up on this and found this Post By SJ.

Sj says : also IMHO.. you should run the ventlines dropped in the belly pan...you are running huge jets and when you are at wot your airbox vacuum is leaning out you big jets...
drop the ventlines into the bulkhead below the carbs (like a srx) and drop your main's to something in the neighborhood of 145-150 you'll have more fuel flow at speed/wot.

I am not sure how to Re-locate the Vent lines into the bottem of my bulkhead. Just take the hose's from the airbox and move them to the bottem of the sled?? im kinda confused.

he sais like a SRX.. pics would be kinda usefull here.. Where do i put the ventlines and how do i secure them down?

hmm The thing with the vent lines seems like the Exact thing like mine. Can't go over like 80-90 Kmh until the DCS starts flashin. I think its the vent lines Leaning out my Jetting!!! Wow! honestly i think thats it, i think that was the problam all along!

i feel so.... so.. Relieved. i think i need a beer!lol

Can you take me step by step on what hoses to take out and move to the bulkhead area?

I wish I could tell you the answer. I have been reading about this since I bought the pipes. There is a CPR modded 04 head for sale on this board that I would much rather buy than send out my head to bender. That was one of my questions to them. The person I spoke with flat out told me that the only way to get the bender pipes to work properly with DCS was "their" head mod or one of the aftermarket heads. We specifically talked about the Peak head with 24cc domes.

I have been through a lot of your posts trying to find information on running the Bender pipes. I am not finding a lot of information on heads, combustion chamber design and bender pipes.

i run my 03 cpr piped viper in minus 45 celsius and am vented to the air box with 165 mains and have not had any problems with detonation. i have the cpr head mod.

also for anyone that knows does venting to the atmosphere make your jetting fatter or richer?

your vent lines should be hooked to the vary flow, so that won't have anything to do with it. Move the needles up another 1/2 posistion. Maxdlx

Red it makes it way richer. AAen says if you run v force reeds to vent to below carbs, and drop from 165 to 150. Maxdlx

its so rich now, why do i have to make it richer by adjusting the needles? So the vented airbox isn't the solution. did you see what im running for jetting..LOL
