Here are a few pics from last night:
brother in law
Me removing the seat.
I guess I will have to pull the sled out of the trailer tomorrow, will be difficult to do some reasonable wrenching in there. We`ll see.

That blows man it realy blows!!!Nice and clean now.
You should maybe remove the manifold? I guess you were right that it was no point in straightening the trailing arms on your srx back then. Hehe sorry just had to
What do you mean bluewho ?.
One question, the sled has been sitting inside the trailer for (tomorrow it will be) two days, with a fan owen blowing all the time, so the temperature has been pretty high, we`we also had the gas owen on for several hours, I think the temperature must have been atleast 30+ degrees celcius when the gas owen was on.
Can I trailer the sled home to my garage and start the recovery process?. My garage isn`t isolated, no heat.
I just think that if I get the engine running and get it good and warm, it will be good for both the engine and the sled?.
The garage where it sits now isn`t isolated, but the garage is so big that the trailer fits inside, so the garage works as isolation for the trailer.
If necessary I can put the sled back into the trailer and trailer it back to the garage where it sits now, after I have gone through the recovery process.
Any opinions?.

Blows means it a shame you no i am sorry for you guys. The first thing in the morning pik was great to funny. If he is going to keep the sled you have alot of work to do in unbolting and drying with heat and compressed air!In a unheated shop i think you will have a hard time.I would split the block and get the crank bearings rod bearings and electrial parts all blown out and oiled up.She will start and run for a season but will not last mutch longer if you dont.

You should try putting diesel fuel down the cylinders and pull over and over to wash the interior. There is detergent in it and it will wash better.Had an irrigation pump go under the water due to heavy rain and forgot to move the pump to higher ground.Put diesel fuel in it ,ran it and dumped it and repeated about 4 to 5 times.Motor still runs fine today, mind you it is a 4-stroke.But my cousin told me to do this because it will clean the parts inside, then use oil after to coat things. My 2 cents worth.

What a story!!!! Glad to hear you guys are succeeding in the recovery. Regarding the ice thickness 5 cm is 2 inches, there might have been a blow hole there, a blow hole is where the lake will release the air trap early in the season. I use to work on small engines and did alot of drowned engine recovery. What everyone is saying is correct. The seat will take a long time to dry out. Next summer take the seat off and uncover it and squeeze as much water out of it as possible, then hang it in your garage up by the rafters for the season. Should be dry by the following winter. Like BLUEWHO said don't forget about the electrical connections or else you will have electrical nightmares in the furture.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!

sucks that happened, but at least everyone is ok and the sled is home now. I still cant beleive you crazy norwegians and no helmets lol!
pouring oil and wd-40 and diesel fuel doesnt seem like it will do much. Where is all the water in the case going to go unless you tip it upside down? wouldnt you just be mixing more and more oil with water in the crankcase?wd-40 displaces water but where in the hell is it supposed to displace it? It's got nowhere to go!!! Do a search for the viper submarine. glad no one froze to death though.
Hi guys! thanks for all the replies!. I know I`ve said it many times before but I really appreciate them.
I`ve been working on the sled all day, started 09.00 and decided to call it the day at 20.00, gees things take so much more time then I think they will. My plan was to get the engine running for real, today.. but I haven`t come that far.
The first thing I did was to remove the chaincase cover, it was kind of interesting because I`ve never looked inside a chaincase with reverse. There was lots of water inside it!!. Nice to know how it works.
Oh, if you want me to reduce my amount of pictures, just say so, I tend to overdo the picture thing a little.
Got the sled home..
Here`s how the chaincase looked.. .
Parts on the bench..
For those who wonder how the reverse system looks.. .
Washed the chaincase..

I didn`t quite understand what this spring was suppost to do ?.
Well anyway I got it all back together and filled her up with 80W 90 Hypogear oil.
Then I pulled the gastank.
Here is the screw(s) that I mention yesterday, I had to drill the heads off them to get the tank off because the nut or whatever it is that is inside the tank, would spin when I tried to loosen the bolts.
But, the right side bolt came out as I drilled, the other one I drilled out and rethreaded (tried to, did get some threads so I think it will work).
Then pulled air box & carbs, gees I`ve never seen anything like this.
Art!
Carbs all cleaned.. it took quite longer then a "normal" clean because there was water EVERYWHERE.
I then pulled the oiltank, at first I thought it was as clean as it could be, but there was lots of ice in the bottom!. I heated it and washed it with diesel, now it`s drying in my workshop to make sure there`s no water left.
Also cleaned the airbox..
Here`s how the sled looks now.. .
I know that I should get the engine running asap, but I did get most of the water out of it on sunday, pulled hundreds of time, then poured WD40 inside it, pulled more, then put more WD 40 in it, then pulled more, then poured oil in it, then pulled more, then more oil and then pulled more, then I put gas inside the cylinders and started it, only ran for a couple of seconds tho, then did it once more, then I put WD 40 and oil into it once more.. so I hope it will survive another day without being started.
I hope to get it started tomorrow, but I don`t know if I`ll get that far before I have to go to work.
Wellwell that`s all for today

A little water in those carbs!!!! Yikes!!!!
If you get it running soon, I'd use fogging oil on it (through the carbs before you put the airbox back in) just to coat the entire inside of the crankcase.

minor detail here, dont know if you thought about it with everything else going on but seeing the ice in the carbs, you should check your float level, wouldnt be surprised if it was off. Save you the trouble of taking back off later. keep up the good work

You are getting closer! Keep up the work.
Anyway you can get that suspension inside. Im sure there is ice in areas that could use a full melt down and a good flushing with grease.

HI,
Couple hints:
-Make sure you put grease in your suspension shafts
-Spray WD-40 for every electrical connector
-Take cover off of your seat and place it between plywood and run over with tracktor and hang it to worm place for 3 days. Otherwise it will be wet and mould
-Run oil through your oilpump and fuelpump
-Empty all oil/fuel hoses
-After you have warmed up your engine first time, empty your carbs one more time.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the replies!.
Exciterfan: Thanks for the tips but I read your reply to late!. Thanks tho.
xt700: I actually didn`t think of that, will check them when I pull the carbs the next time, guess it`s possible that the ice can bend the float.
03viperguy: Thanks!. I tend to do it automatically, like to have things organized, saves you alot of time in the long run.
vibeline: Glad you like the pics, thanks
Familyman: Thanks. I almost forgot the suspension.. what should I do with it?. I probably wount have time to dig into the suspension before this weekend, I hoped that we could get some riding in this weekend when my sister and brother in law comes home. Should tear the shocks apart?.
Reimond: Thanks!. Suspension shafts, can you explain a little more in detail?. I have sprayed WD-40 in all the electrical connections.
The seat is still in our shower, but I guess I will have to do what you say. Is it hard to put it back on?. Guess I will need a special "stapler-gun" (spelling??) ?.
I started working on the sled 08.00 this morning, first I put a fan heater onto the engine compartment. Then I found a needle and filled it with oil, then removed the bleeding screw on the oilpump and pushed new fresh oil through oil lines.
Then I did the same with the fuel lines, I don`t think there is/was any ice left in the fuelpump, I did heat it with a heater gun just to make sure any ice would melt before I run gas through it.
Then I put all the parts back, carbs, gastank, oiltank, airbox and exhaustpipe. I sprayed WD40 in all the electrical connections I could find. Put antifreeze in the expansion tank.
Then put gas in the tank with about 1,5% oil in it, used fully syntethic oil for my dirtbike, only one I had available (put all the other oil in the oil tank before I thought of the premix in the tank).
I then pulled the engine over 10 times or so without the plugs, to make the gas enter the carbs, (easier to pull without the plugs hehe). Then I turned the igntion on and she started on 2nd pull and ran like a charm!!.
I let her idle for a few minutes and then I rode her out of the garage, tested the reverse and it worked just like it should. Then took it for a little ride in the neighbourhood, she`s just like before. I havent ridden her so much since isn`t my sled, but I really liked it. Man it pulls hard at full throttle, screams really good!. (kept it at low rpms in the beginning, didnt rew it before it was warm). Engine sounds just like before.
I discovered on thing. Both my brother in law and I has heard some knocking from the engine, I was kind of worried, but the other day I found that both of exhaust pipe bolts on cylinder nr. 3 was missing!! gees. And it`s amazing how sharp free-exhaust can sound, so I`m very happy to find out that it only was free-exhaust.
I didn`t shoot that many pictures today because I was in a hurry, had to go to work at 13.30 and I really wanted to get the sled running today.
Proof, she runs!!
After the test run I removed the hood and took it inside because there was still some water in the headlight and the rpm gauge. (I disconnected the gauge before I rode it to prevent any damage incase there was ice inside it).
Oh btw. I still need a speedometer for this sled, I can`t get a hold of (nick) srx6s who said he had one that I could buy.
Tomorrow I`m going to lube everything that might need lubing, should I pull the secondary and take a look at the drive axle bearing?. Guess there isn`t much I can do to it, but should I spray something onto/in it?.
Will be greatful for any more tips.
Wellwell that`s all for today.
