silversnow, thanks for the reply! .
We did put condence remover in the tank this morning, either way I`m positive that condence isn`t the problem because the carbs were 100% clean when I removed them for the second time.¨
Oh yeah I really thought about the hold-up-sled-while-rewing, not smart.

Hi guys!
A thought just came to my mind. Since the MM worked PERFECT when I parked it on Thursday, and run crappy/unstabile/hesitates now, I started thinking: What`s different with the sled from Thursday and today?.
The only different thing is that I rode the sled without the seat and today we put the seat on before we started it. And yes I did ofcourse connect the rear light.
I once read that a guy`s sled suddenly run crappy because there was a short circuit in the rear light?. (read it here at the forum).
I havent removed the rear light glass since the sled sunk in the lake, (forgot), can it have something to do with the engine hesitation?.

Unplug the rear light and try it.

if there was water in the fuel and sled is unheated it could be ice in the bottom of the tank and fuel lines now,if you can heat up the sled so any ice melts then siphon the fuel from the tank using about a 16mm hose moving it around the bottom of the tank to suck up any water or dirt, when you put the fuel back in slowly filter it through a very fine sceened funnel [that will filter out water] or don't pour in the last 1/2 liter, you can do this a couple times if you notice water coming out,if your in a hurry when the tank is emty pour 5 liters of warm fuel into the tank. (put five litres of fuel into a small gas can, then place the gas can into a half full 20 litre pail of hot water for 10 minutes) If there is water in the fuel pump, it can be melted by pouring warm water over it slowly but a heated garage overnight would be the best. Good Luck!!!
Hi guys!
Thanks for the replies!.
I can`t say that I am 110% sure but I`m almost 100% sure that water isn`t the problem.
When I had the tank off, I flushed it diesel 2 times, then let it sit inside my heated little workshop over the night. The day after it was totally dry inside.
Yesterday I also tried pulling it over while I held the heatgun onto the fuelpump (at a reasonable distance ofcourse), fuel flowed from all three lines, was no difference after/while heating, just as much fuel came, clean fuel.
But ofcourse I`ll pull it once more and clean it if you think it`s necessary.
Gees I wish I had a heated shop.
Well anyway, this morning we unhooked the wires from the rear light but there was no difference.
We then unhooked the harness that goes into the hood (up tot he gauges & headlight). We then took it for a test ride and my brother in law said it was much better now, but sometimes it wouldn`t rew properly, rews up to 7000-7500rpm or so. But then a few seconds later without any reason, it screams at 9000rpm.
We rode up to about 200m and played in the powdersnow, gees it`s really starting to look like winter now!.
Later on the day it started to get dark so I connected the wire harness to the gauge/headlight, then the sled run really crappy again, hesitated like hell at 4500-5500 and wouldnt rew any higher.
Unplugged the harness again and it rewed MUCH better, but still not perfect.
Could it be the stator ?. Just a wild guess.
Here are some pictures from today.

Pulling brother in law, he got stuck.
Just a picture.. you can see the girl with the V-Max 600 SX joined us.. .
Wellwell that`s all for now.
Gees I hope we will figure out what`s causing the hesitation on the MM.

Did you check the pilots? those things gum up pretty easy since they are so small.

I Have An Old 540 That Ocassionally Runs Crappy When It Does If I Make The Brake Light Come On It Runs Fine. Mr Viper Gave Me Some Tests To Do But I Haven't Got To It Yet Since Its Not A Daily Rider Just Sits In Garage Most Of The Time. I'll Pm You What He Sent Me.

it sounds like it is something electrical

I agree completely that it is something electrical, and those are the hardest to trace and find. nothing obviously broken and can cause a host of annoying issues! good luck and keep us posted!
Hi guys!
Yes I did blow through the pilots with compressed air.
I`m happy to hear that you also think it`s an electrical issue!.
How should I proceed?.
Should I pull the flywheel and take the stator out?.
How do you measure the coils on this sled?.
I measured all of them to ca. 3.3k ohms, but I guess that must be the secondary coils, how do I measure the primary coils?.
I don`t think it`s the coils tho because it seems like it\s hesitating on all cylinders, kind of hard to say tho.
I hate electrics and it really isn`t my strong side.
Is it most likely a short circuit somewhere?.
Rub through?.
Bad stator ?.

Oh, how do I check the stator, how many ohms should there be ?. What wires should I measure at?. What about the pickup coil?.
Anyone have the electrical schematics for this sled?.

hey awesome 2l 16v golf.. them things fly.. i used to have a 2 liter 16v gti as my first car veryy low and nice 17 inch corrado mags, very fun car and cheap on gas. i cant find pics of it now but when i do il post them. any news on the mm? has to be something stupid kepp up the good work
Hi guys!
Thanks vibeline, sent you a PM!. Awesome!.
I`ve been thinking about the MM all day, it`s much easier to fix an engine that doesn`t run, then fixing an engine that runs bad. If you know what I mean.. .
My plan is to measure the charge and pickup coils and then check the hole harness for rub through. I guess that`s all I can do.. ?.
Should I pull the motor?.
92vwgti, here`s a link to some pictures of my Golf. I`ve changed the front indicator lights to "crystal clear" and also the fog lights to crystal clear.
It`s something about golfs.. some hate them and some love them more then anything. They are cute!

Hello kimoaj!
Maybe the MM have water in the ignitionlock or the engine kill switch?
Also take away the foam on the handlebar and check the cables to the kill switch, I have seen them damaged and it gave a lot of strange problems.
If I was you I would change the brake fluid, It´s probably no water/moisture in it but better safe than sorry. If there is, the brakes can freeze or boil and put you in big trouble.

swede srx: Thanks for the reply. I`ve thinking about that too, should I heat the ignitionlock for a while with the heatgun and then spray something into it?. WD40 ?.
Will remove the handlebar foam and check everything.
I did removed the handlebar bad when I was drying it after dive in the lake. When I removed it (if I remember correctly) I noticed one little connector that was disconnected, but I only saw one of the connectors. I didn`t look for the other one for some reason.
I unplugged all of the connectors and sprayed WD40 in them, when I connected them again I remember that I connected all of the plugs, also the one that was disconnected when I removed the foam. (I don`t know what the plug was for, but when we test rode the sled on Saturday my brother in law commented that his thumb warmer suddenly was working. Maybe the previous owner disconnected it because it was causing trouble?. But then again I did ride the sled on Thursday and it run perfect (with that plug connected).
Gees I`m a little confused hehe.
Wish I had a heated shop with good light, right now I work in whatever temperature it`s outside, last week it was around -10degrees celcius all week. Well atleast I have roof over my head.
Will keep you posted.

Hi guys!
I guess it`s not necessary to have two threads about the same problem, I made on in the tech questions section, so please take a look there.
But anyway, I measured the stator today and found out that everything was within spec.
However I read in a post by ekimsx600 that you should also measure between the brown/red wire in the triangle connector and the black wire in the rectangle connector, I should get between 93-113ohms. I got 64 ohms.
Kind of hard to say if I found something intersting here or not.. ?.
Anyway, I took the sled for a little ride on some farm roads, it wouldn`t rew higher then 7500 or so, I was riding with the headlight harness disconnected. I connected the harness (now got a light in the headlight ofcourse) and it run even worse, almost wouldn`t move forward.
I did the same test on Sunday, but I didn`t ride the sled, and there was lot`s of powder, so I wanted to test it again on a hard surface just to be sure.
Hmm
