Wow, I have to say I'm glade no one was hurt. Second, you are the man. I read all of the post and it's great what you have done. That is alot of work. I hope the sled runs great for you. Good job. I hope he buys you a year supply of your favorite beverage.

wow what a lot of work, you must be very tired, did you ever fix the bog on your srx?
Warm that suspension back up and grease it up.
You might have to drill a relief hole in the headlight. Then blow air into it. Very seldom can you get all the water out of them.
Shock rebuild would be fantastic as well! Better then sticken one while riding and have to turn back.

I would take off the speedo bearing on the driveshaft, pull the seals and grease it. the same for the jackshaft bearing but you will have to pull the chaincase to get that one.
Hi guys! Thanks for all the replies, I`m sorry for saying that sentence everyday but I really appreciate them.
92vwgti: Thanks. I don`t think I`ve been on enough adventures to write a book about it, maybe someday tho, hehe.
viper7mi: Thanks!. I don`t think it`s much work because it`s what I like to do, time flies when I wrench, however this week it flew way to fast. The snowmobile season is short, so I wanted to have all the sleds up and running for this weekend, I planned to have the V-Max 4 ready for this weekend, but the MM had to come in first line. I hope I manage to repair my SRX trailing arm & radius rods tomorrow before I go to work so I get to ride a little this weekend. Oh, my favourite beverage is Coke (in the weekends) and pepsi max in the week days, hehe).
srxhair: Thanks!. I wish I had more sleds to wrench on. The bog I talked about was on this MM, you probably thought it was my SRX... . And nah havent done anything to it yet.
familyman: I took removed the hood and let it sit in my workshop for one day, in 20+c, (removed the bulb ofcourse), the headlight seemed 100% dry.
The rpm gauge also looked dry, but when I got it out in the cold weather some "condense" developed on the inside.
BBlueSRX: I will do that, dunno about the jackshaft bearing, maybe I`ll just replace them after this season, is it possible to notice when this bearing is about to go to "##¤%?.
I started working 08.30 this morning, first I mounted the hood and the rpm gauge and taped some (almost) wire rub through on the harness going to the hood. Then I found some bolts to put in exhaust manifoil, both bolts on cylinder nr.3 was missing. It was quite interesting to figure out how to get the lower bolt in, but after some fiddleing I got it in. (I removed the pipe to reach it, much easier that way)
Then I sprayed WD 40 in some connections that I had overlooked the day before. Then I got a grease-gun and lubed all grease-gun-spots (if you know what I mean).
Then I fired up my SRX and put it in the garage to have it ready for the trailingarm repair tomorrow morning.
Did take the MM for a little ride today and the rew counter didn`t work, it worked just after start up but suddenly stop working, the needle was stuck on 5000rpm, but when I stopped it, it dropped to zero. I pulled the bulb in the gauge so that (if there was some water left) the water could have an escape route.
When it comes to the pictures I`m sad to say that I let you down today , I was in a hurry and didn`t think I did anything that was worth taking pictures of, so no pictures to day.
Oh I have to say that the MM really pulls nice. Not as crisp at as the SRX at low rpm, but man the MM flies at 8000-9000rpm.
Wellwell that`s all for today. I`ll keep you posted.

you had a post from 03-15-2006 about srx bogging in powder, i have the same problem ,i am going 7 hours drive to the mountains and hope srx won't bog again
Hi guys!
Thanks for the replies
92vwgti: Yup, btw. I have a 1986 VW Golf 2 GTI 16V !
srxhair: Gees sorry, my mistake!. My SRX runs much better in the powder this year, I can ride with the hood covered with snow, it still doesn`t bog. However, it sometimes sounds like it runs on 2cylinders if I let the front end dive to much in REAL powder (when riding slowly), but it`s like a new sled compared to last year. Last year I had to turn around and go home due to the bogging problems.. .
Here are some pictures from today. Since the MM basically was ready for the weekend, I decided to try to also get my SRX ready, so I went out of bed 06.30 and started working 07.00, pulled the rightside trailingarm and the radius rods to get them straightened. (only temporary repair).
Garage this morning
Trailingarm
Pretty bad
I then went down to the cowhouse-workshop and heated the bent area while I bent it back to "normal" . Also hammered a little on it to get it even.

After straightening, like I said only temporary repair so I they don`t look nice.
I then welded a thin angle iron on the trailingarm where it was cracked. Forgot to shoot detail pics because I was in a hurry.
After the welding I painted the parts with a rust preventive paint and used the heatgun to make the paint harden fast so that I could mount the parts asap.
While I was working inside a snow storm developed outside, gees !! cool !
Tools in garage all covered hehe, shit.
Then mounted everything, so glad that the SRX is ride-able again.
Then I went to work and now I just got home and gees it`s still snowing and I have a pizza in the owen.. what a great start of the weekend!.
Cheers! (coke ofcourse)
Have a nice weekend everybody, ride carefully!

BTDT. Pull the carbs and the pipe. Drain everything and pull the engine over a bunch with the plugs out to clear the water. Replace the fuel and get it running, asap. Check the oil tank to make sure it did not get contaminated. Also check the chain case once its running. Most of the potential for damage starts once you get it out of the water so don't wait to get started. The seat will hang in the shop and drip for about a week. The new seats are closed cell foam so it may be OK as well. Just get it running as soon as you can. Good luck. BTW, good job getting it out.

nice DUBB!!!
also a great read. i went through the ice 2 years ago but got very lucky, the handle bars back was under, no water in the engine.
as far as the seat goes...good luck, took me 2 summers to get it dry. park a truck on top of it for a while. i did it for about a day. then put it on top of a dehumidifier. that helped a lot. i think tomorrow im going to put the seat cover on it so i have a seat this winter.

BAD NEWS
This morning we were suppost to go riding. My brother in law and my sister came home for the weekend, all excited about the re-born MM who was in full working order.
We went outside, put gas & oil in the sleds and fired them up. Since my SRX was pointing "inwards" (spelling?) in the garage, I told my brother in law to take the MM for a spin around the cowhouse and then come back and tow me out of the garage.
He rode down the driveway and MM didn`t run as it should. It hesitated and sounded real bad. I imediately thought it was a fouled plug from the extra oil mixture in the gas, so I found some other plugs and started it, no difference. Pulled plugs again and they were wet. I then thought that water had gathered in the float bowls, so he rode the sled up to the garage and then I pulled the carbs.
There was some tiny drops of water in the bowls, so I figured I found the reason for the hesitation.
Put carbs back on and fired it up. No luck. Still the same. Runs just like it should at idle and up to 5000rpm, then it just hesitates after that. Pulled plugs and they were wet.
Then put in some other plugs that I found in the workshop, unknown condition, fired it up and then we decided to try to take it for a spin to maybe clear out the oil/gas in the cylinders. After a km the sled barely run, so we turned around and rode home.
I then pulled the carbs again to see if there was some more water (and to make sure that the fuel pump was working like it should, used the heat gun on the pump (carefully) and then pulled the starter, fuel came out of all the lines so there`s nothing wrong with the pump.
Checked carbs, no water, totally clean. (blew through all jets with compressed air ofcourse).
Then got some new plugs from my friend with the V-Max 4, I gave him 4plugs for christmas so I knew he had some.
We also disonnected the CDI and sprayed a special electrical-cleaner-moisture-remover spray into all connections we could find. Then put in new plugs and fired it up.
I took it for a ride down the mainroad, kept it at low rpm to avoid fouiling, after a little while I tried to open her up. Still the same.. then I tried again and I heard that she wanted to rew, then once more and she rewed just like she should and I was so happy, thinking it only had to be cleared out to run properly. But then suddenly it hesitated again, and I didn`t understand anything.
My brother in law and my friend with the Vector also tried it just to get it real good and warm and see if the problem disappeared. Sometimes it rewed just like it should and sometimes it hesitated.
For some reason I checked the comp, 120PSI on all three.
I know that it`s getting gas and the gas is free from water.
No air leaks, since it`s not bogging, but hesitating, just as if the spark disappears.
I also checked the float height, all were around 14.3mm.
So it`s getting gas, there`s compression so I figure the sudden hesitation must be caused by an error in the ignition system?.
My Honda scooter-moped behaved just like this when the coil was bad. Sometimes it would rew and sometimes it wouldnt. But then again, it`s not likely that all three coils will fail at the same time. But I guess if one of them fails, it would make the engine hesitate.
Or can it be something wrong with the coils behind the flywheel or the pickup sensor outside the flywheel?.
I filmed my friend with the Vector MTN while he rode the MM back and forth, just so that you could hear the sound. It was dark outside so the picture sucks, but the sounds is the essential part of the clip.
Sometimes it screams, sometimes it hesitates.

A few pictures:
Brother in law before the trouble started.. .
Looking at the carbs
I just pulled the plugs, I expected them to be dark, but the look like this:
The whitest one was in the middle cylinder. A little on the lean side?.
However we rode it somewhat hard and it was -12 outside, so might be a little lean.
I think it`s related to the ignition, or am I just dumb?.
So, no riding today. Wellwell. Maybe it`ll be running tomorrow, let`s hope so.
Wellwell thanks again for all the replies, really appreciate all the help I can get.
Joakim.

Oh btw, to stop the bogging on my SRX I got a Bender cold air kit, mounted an exhaust deflector from a MM700 and (don`t know if it really helps) a Bender canister.
The stupid thing is that I cant say which of them that really makes a different since I got them at the same time.

Try putting some Isopropyl ( Absorbs water and makes it burn) in the tank. It can't hurt anything and if there is any water in there it will tell you something.
Also didn't we already learn NOT to hold up sled when someone is reving them?
