Took off my exhaust and manifolds today.Ran the idle down until servo rotated and I marked it.Pulled out the valves and scraped and cleaned them up.Put them back in and adjusted them flush to the port. The engine has got it's zing back into it.Sure sounds a lot better now, like it should.
Will ride it tommorrow and see how it feels.

daman...at least my PV's and cables are in good shape.Had a price just in case to replace 3 cables and 3 PV's from the dealer..just a tad over $600.00.That is really nuts.

Makes a big difference when the powervalves are clean and adjusted right hey? Not too big of job to do either.

Yea like holic said it really is easy to do,and very $$ if you don't
keep 'em clean, what are you running for oil???

Amsoil for now,but will switch to Yamalube or Blue Marble.Got both of these in garage now.Got $400 worth of Blue Marble oil.Used on my SXR with no problems at all for 1 year and a half.

After I cleaned the power valves and checked cables and they are good and springs to.Valves were not stuck at all.Did the finger thing through the port to flush the valves.Ran today and sure didn't feel I had the power I should.Really sluggish from a launch point and took a while to wind out.So brought it home and did another adjustment on cables.Adjusted cables to get 2.5 mm space in the between the 2 housings and tightened everything up.Man what a difference in performance, like day and night. She goes nuts when I punch it and revs like crazy and snappy.Only thing today I could not get the sled over 92 mph at all.The other day I was up to 100mph in seconds.Still waiting to get past that mark.
Question now is I have to figure the really proper way to adjust them valves, but should have it.Why am I not getting past the 100 mph mark. She gets there close pretty fast, and that is not problem. If only my Tach was working,I could see where my rpm's are and do something about it.I have to guess right now at my idle speed.SUCKS MAN.

Also one or more of my exhaust pipes is not sealing against the manifold tight ay all.The second pipe just doesn't seem to want to go tighter over the donut gasket, and the springs look slack in there also.Thought I could get the small end of pipe to go in more into the opening of the can inlet, but can't move that way anymore.

a friend was putting the pipes back on a srx600, for some reason they didn't fit tight
until the silencer was tightly secure to the bellypan. i couldn't believe it either, i guess
the springs have to be really tight there also, in order for the pipes to fit good around the dounuts

I ordered 3 new exhaust donuts today. Will find some tighter springs at the hardware store. Not going to pay Yamaha's prices on them. And daman,Yamaha's specs for adjustment for the powervalves is from 2.0mm to 3.5mm.You can pick your number.

checked a bill I had when I bought 2 donuts for the SXR.They were nearl $40.00 each. Why are these stupid things so expensive for, man.I work a whole day for 3 donuts....lol.Hope they taste good at least.LMAO.I am going broke slowly and phoned my dealer today and told him it is their favorite guy calling for parts again and keeping them alive.
