Just wondering if there are any NASCAR fans in the crowd here at TY. Who do you like, not like? I'm getting pumped for the upcoming season, just want to know if anyone likes it as well...

I enjoy watching it. I find myself cheering for Junior and Johnson the most, the year they were rookies is when I started watching. I can't stand either one of the Busch brothers. Looking forward to seeing how Junior does this year with Hendrick, I don't think he's been the same since he burnt his legs in the road race, hope I'm wrong. My being a fan PALES in comparison to my wife, she's a raging Earnhardt fan. I didn't get to watch Senior drive a whole lot, but did like the fact that he didn't mess around when on the track. If you were slower than him and didn't let him by, you were going into the wall, simple as that, lol. I think Stewart is a lot like him and probably the best driver out there, save maybe Gordon (I don't think his ambition is there since second wife and kid), but he needs to quit saying one thing and then doing another on the track. I don't like watching short track races (funny, I don't like riding short track sleds a whole lot either, lol).

I watch more exciting racing.

AMA superbike, as well as MotoGP, and World Superbike racing.
I even go to motorcycle races.

when pressed I will watch road racing (scca, american lemans etc). only turning left does not impress me.

Now if there were more than 2 road races in nascar, i might watch more. If I am on top of it, I might see both nascar road races in the season.

X2

Nascar has ruined stockcar racing.
Here are some things that would turn it around.
1. Get rid of the common template. Nascar is not IROC.
2. Get rid of the gear rule. If teams want to turn the engines 10,000RPM let them.
3. Dont give incomming car manufacturers(Toyota) competitors engines and tell them to "build one."
4. Let them use a seperate engine to qualify with.

This is a short list. I could list alot more.
In the end Nascar is trying too hard to "level the playing field", what they are really doing is making the race slow and boreing.
The teams with the most money/best sponsorship, will come up with the best people and equipment, and most likley the most wins...no matter how Nascar tries to regulate the teams.
I'm sorry low budget teams like Robby Gordon cant compete.
If Nascar want to be on the top shelf of racing, they are going to have to let the teams have back some slack on the shocks/springs/engines/bodys.
I used to watch practice, qualifying, happy hour, and the race flag to flag. Now I could care less.

Been to MIS (11 years , 2 races a year), Watins Glen, Chicagoland and the Brickyard. Used to wake eat and sleep NASCAR. Now it sucks and I dont care. No more stock cars. No more American cars only. It has been going down hill from the late 80s. I live 15 miles from Chicagoland and probably wont go back. I go to a friends Daytona party every year and then dont watch anymore all year.
Bring back bodies in white and production engines.

I've been to the new hampshire race way a few times.
What does everybody think about Dale Jr. switching teams??

I think it was a good move, I think he'll do better than last year. lol A lot of people don't think he has enough talent to be a champ contender. I believe that he'll win at least a few this year and contend for the championship, if not win it. IMO Hendrick equipment is better than DEI equipment, and that makes a BIG difference. Only problem I can see is his crewchief, we'll see how he does this year with better equipment, but, I do think there are better ones out there. Jr may have a different CC in 2009...

I'm with Gerby! :) Have tickets for the Vegas race so far. Usually go to the Phoenix races.

We have gone to MIS aug race for the last 5 years. Gonna try to get to Martinsville this year and if not we are headed back to MIS. Good times.
Junior will finally get to win some races. I have big expectations for Mears also this year. Also am a Juan Pablo Montoya fan. Funny thing was the looks we got when I put up my JPM flag next to my JJ and JG flags. LOL!
Countdown is on!
Cheers,
Rick.

NASCAR, don't they drive around all day looking for the finish line??? NHRA drag racing, straight to the finish line!!!

Ive watch a bit for the last 9 years or so. Its one of those things youhave to commit too. If you only watch a few races a year you have no idea whats going on and its sucks, but if I pay attention it can be easy to suck you in every sunday or sat night

and BIG BALLS (2) to keep it from WHEELSHAKING your brains out of your head

Rather watch Nascar than NHRA anyday IMO, for many reasons. Why would you want to watch a car that doesnt even resemble a car that just goes straight for what a maximum of 5 passes??? Doesnt make sense to me, granted you do need to have some balls to go over 300 mph, but come on man, when the light goes green put the pedal to the medal and hold the wheel doesnt take much skill IMO...

I like NHRA and NASCAR both, watch them whenever I can. Eric Medlens death was terrible, he was one of my favorites to watch, always full of energy. Was one of those kind of guys that everyone liked. As far as it not taking a lot of talent to drive them cars, back in 03, my buddy had a Stang that went 9.60s, he let me take it down the track a couple times, could be a handful at the big end when you're going about 140, let alone 320...
