NASCAR? Anyone like it...

I like NASCAR. I dont really have a favorite driver. The way I look at it, as long as theres a Toyota in Victory Lane, I couldnt care less who the driver is.
I think its going to be a big year for Toyota. Gibbs switching over to Toyota is going to be a big help.
With the combination of Gibbs' knowhow to the TRD braintrust, I expect Toyota to be much improved over last year.
You can expect all of the Toyota teams to be better, because they will all work together and share information.
Unlike the other 3 makes, all of the Toyota teams share all of the information with each other. Its not Gibbs or MWR or BDR or Team Redbull or Hall Of Fame Racing; its Toyota as a collective manufacturer working together as a team.
I personally dont think much of Earnhardt Jr's switch to Hendrick. Plain and simple, he went where the money is. I personally dont think that he better himself all that much because he is going to play 3rd fiddle to Gordon and Johnson. IMO, Gordon and Johnson are still going to get the best cars and engines and Earnhardt Jr is going to get whatever is left.
I personally think that Earnhardt Jr is the most overrated driver on the circuit and its going to be intesting to see what excuses he has when he cant win on what is considered by many to be the best equipment in all of NASCAR.

I really DON'T think it works that way "Gordon and Johnson are still going to get the best cars and engines and Earnhardt Jr is going to get whatever is left" I think they have to build their engines WITHIN BLUPRINTED SPECS and their BODIES and SUSPENSIONS ALSO!!!! I really dont get on how they call those cars FORDS and PONTIACS and CHEVYS AND DODGES?????????? THERE IS NOT ONE part on any of those cars that is produced by GENERAL MOTORS,,,,, FORD motor corp OR CHRYSLER??????? Let alone bringing in the JAPANESE MARKET??????? My CHALLENGER was made in MICHIGAN BY MOPAR!!!! (near detroit!!!) My cylinder heads in INDIANA (indy) My TRANS and rear end ALSO IN MICHIGAN (by NEW PROCESS and DANA),, my carb in CALIFORNIA (holley) and my ignition in TENNESSEE!!! Much of the IRON ORE came from the SOUDAN iron ore mine in TOWER/SOUDAN, MINNESOTA and the tires from OHIO (goodyear) The SYNTHETIC GEAR LUBE comes from SYNERGEN and the SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL AND TRANS FLUID (also synthetic) comes from LUCAS OIL!!!!! and YOU WANT ME TO WATCH TOYOTA???????????? NASCAR TOYOTA?????????? COME ON!!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

and YES,,,, boys and girls,,,, my racecar uses SYNTHETIC oil,,,trans fluid,,,, gearlube,,, and even SYNTHETIC BRAKE FLUID!!!! ( no power steering,, its a RACECAR and RACECARS go STRAIGHT.. And cars that go STRAIGHT don't need POWER STEERING!!!!!

Nascar is the most boring racing out there IMO. I worked on a Marathon commercial with Richard Petty and had a chance to go to his museum and was blown away by the older stock cars that were based on cars you could actually buy. If Nascar used production based cars I would be very into it, but Im not going to watch cars that have names from front wheel drive cars and pretend to be something other than tube frame racers with glass bodies bolted on them. I think the fact that the cheapest Kia/hyundai has more technology also bugs me, as well as the fact that many street legal cars have higher top speeds. I like watching drag racing and there will always be a place for pushrod 2 valve V-8s with carbs. Then again, Nascar doesnt need my support, they are extremely succesful and I am happy for them and the fans. It just bores me to tears.

Ya, I'm disappointed with the move away from using factory parts. We used to pour NASCAR Ford blocks at the foundry here(closed this year) but I don't know when the last time they did that. Too much pressure from the OEMs on the badging issue, nobody wants a rear wheel drive car anymore(well mostly nobody). The front ends are still loosly based on a GM front clip(locations of suspension mounts) but lots of computer work has been moving them around. That and the chassis dynos. Anyone who thinks Cup isn't getting very advanced would be surprised. Mind you it's not F1 advanced but it is heading in that direction.

I think it just comes down to preferences with racing.
Some guys love watchin straight line, some like road courses, and I love the short tracks like Martinsville and bristol. We go to MIS every year for the whole week in august. Great family camping trip and have made some great friends there. Would love to go to Dega and Daytona, just to say we went. Gonna try to get to Martinsville and MIS this year.
I also watch some F1 when I get the chance, but have no desire to see it live.
Lets face it, racing like everything else in life is just about the mighty $$$$.
I honestly feel the whole jr thing was a good move for jr. More money and he will win more races. Hendrick will pour some seriuos money into the 88, so he can win some races. That is the best way to tick Theresa off. Greedy B!+(H.
Just my 2 cents,
Rick.

I just watched the "BUD SHOOTOUT"... CONGRATS JUNIOR!!!!!! Maybe nascar isn't all that bad after all???????

That was a great 70 laps of racing. Jr showed in the right equip he can still run with the boys. Casey Mears had a good run too. I'd say the hendrich boys are going to be tough to handle again this year. Maxdlx

I had quite the conversation with an "old, diehard" Nascar guy about Junior Friday night. He went on and on about how Junior wouldn't do nothing this year, was a poor driver, living in his dad's shadow, etc. I told him he was wrong, I felt that equipment would make all the difference, and not fighting with the evil stepmother about HIS DAD'S company. I realize that it's only one race, but it was good to see him back in the front for a race.

POMONA is on right now and JOHN FORCE forgot about the parachutes and drove the car right into the sand!!!! GOTTA LOVE the "FORCE"!!!

Wow and all this talk about the Yotas! Looks like the top 5 cars were mostly the BOWTIES!!!

I hate nascar to many rules for me, kinda like work and 50- 60 hours a week is enought for me.
