The flat spots one the side are a hack and wack with a grinder. They are not good paperweights.
The flats on the face of the weight where the rollers would ride are fine.
ok t , i think you need to save up a few bucks more and pay pete WHATEVER it cost to have him look that sled over front to back top to bottom. everytime you turn around there is something else butchered up , no telling whats hiding underneth in the suspension you cant see. all i know is your a better man than me , by now that sled would be on the sellers front porch with $200.00 jammed in the gas tank......
and started on fire......

Well I guess that this is going to be more of the case with the way the economy is going, You are going to have schiesters that are going to take advantage of those that "don't know any better".
All I can say is this one H*ll of a learning experience for this guy. Plus this is also a learning experience with buying off of ebay sight unseen. Be VERY wary of items that have very shoddy pictures or pictures taken from a distance as the camera doesn't pick up flaws very well.

The W arm is something Mike mentioned specifically, said it was perfect not even any cracks...... your right its probably trashed!!!!!
I try to find the positive in things.... So, here it goes..........
Hey guys you know what, its a good thing this is my first sled!!! I'll know everything to look for on the next one!!!
aaaannnnnddddddd, when I finally get on this piece of sh#$ and beat the living he11 out of it I wont feel guilty about trashing a tird!!!!
What the heck Im learning what a ton of parts are, what they do, and how much they cost.......... not to mention what they look like when theyre junk!!!!
you look at it with a very positive attitude , which is good. it just sucks to have to learn such an exspensive lesson right outta the box on your first sled. it'll get there , sounds like pete is getting you all dialed in motor wise.
maybe see if someone is strippin a tunnel and can ship you the piece your missing to have welded back in so it looks somewhat stock appearing.

thanks allot maxwell, that's the answer i was looking for and my secondary clutch i sprayed pb blaster in it and then carb cleaner, is this going to be good? or should i tear it down and clean it out? and how easy is it supposed to slide in? like for how the belt changes gear ratio should it be easy by hand or no?

IF I get that chassis (I need to win it first) I would drill all of the rivets and send you the whole strake for that side that way every thing should line up like it was designed and you cna have fun in the spring and summer months drilling your a$$ off getting out all of those rivets. ;-)thstorms said:you gonna have a spare motor brace, bulk head, frame brace thingy!?!?!?!?! If I were able to get some measurements of the hole (the piece that is missing) that you have and the thickness of the material I should be able to break(bend/fabricate) that piece up here at home. IT won't be 100% as pretty as the factory but it'll be close and work how it was designed.

Yep, one more rig job.
At this point, I think we need to know the name of the guy that sold the sled to the guy you bought it from. I have a feeling that person passed this horribly maintained sled on to him to sell it quickly.
I am in shock that someone would do such hack jobs all over the sled to "fix" it to sell it.
