Think it should be set at 70* in other words, put the spring end in the hole with the #1 by it and the other spring end with the #6 by it and multiply (x) by 10 adn your clutch will be set to the 70* setting. If you find that your sled always seems to be in the wrong gear you may need to go to 80*. The twist of the spring holds the shift point longer so to speak letting your motor work in the proper manner(no bogging).

I'm thinking------Live grenade thoughts again!amatosrx said:storms is your frame cut where the clutch comes off that is not good that needs support there.
That dude sold it on ebay thinking that when its gone, it is someone elses problem. Sorry but I don't think highly of people that try to pass off items that aren't correct.

Wow why would anyone cut the chassis to get motor out with clutch on NOT GOOD better brace that area up or bad things could happen. Can't believe that someone hacked up those clutch weights like that to get the rivets out. SOME PEOPLE SHOULD LEAVE THE WORK TO THE PROS. good thing you replaced them. Also look in the tech section on this site it gives you all the stock clutch settings and jetting info should alos be in the service manual. Good luck

No, there is an aluminum support on either side of the frame!!! I removed them to be able to pull the motor straight up and out....

I have a 97MM and a 98 SX and both of mine you have to remove the clutch before removing the engine there is only one removeable frame piece and that is on the RH side someone modified the LH side for you earlier in the sleds life. Like I said Some people should leave the wrenching to the PRO's

daman, read post 185, they didn't cut anything nor was anything cut before, he removed 2 brackets that were in the way and got the motor to go straight up and out...not bashing, just thought you should know
just one more thing to add to the list!!!

Daman, knows his sleds... I looke at a couple of pictures and confirm what he says. For some reason I thought that sled may have been different than what I have, guess what it not... Thstorms will need to have that piece made and welded into place as there is a TON of forces going on on that side of the chassis from the operation ofthe clutches.88 yamaha 570 said:daman, read post 185, they didn't cut anything nor was anything cut before, he removed 2 brackets that were in the way and got the motor to go straight up and out...not bashing, just thought you should know

yea i seen that but why someone would remove that and make more work for them selfs vs using the clutch puller is odd to me, but i guess if one don't have a puller........88 yamaha 570 said:daman, read post 185, they didn't cut anything nor was anything cut before, he removed 2 brackets that were in the way and got the motor to go straight up and out...not bashing, just thought you should know
