I'd say it sucked air throught the JB weld and burnt up. How was the machine represented to you, as mint or as a sled. Maxdlx

ps If it were me I'd make it right, but I'd have told you to begin with

I think that is the case as well.

And i would make it right if it were me that sold it, but then again I would have never sold it as it was without fully disclosing the issues with it.

Actually, I would have fixed it myself, made sure it was perfect ( by getting a different case), and then sold it, stating what I did to it to fix it.

Way to step up to the plate Pete! ;)! ;)! ;)!

Pete, you are the MAN!

This is why I love TY. And this is why I will probably buy a Yamaha again instead of a Polaris, despite Polaris being so good to me.

TY has proven to be so helpful and informative it is threads/ people like this that just make it so good.

i will call my dealership and get you prices on seals and rings.

this seems stranger than I thought it was going to be....

cylinders measure 74.803mm

pistons measure 74.2188mm

.022" slop between pistons that cant be right....

I am going to need pistons for a 74.8mm bore, can you price the whole kit.... Pistons, rings, bearings, clips, and pins.... Please

You should definitely contact the guy who sold it to you and ask him to give you some money back - I would say half of it. As suggested, if he balks, tell him you will post his name here and also take him to small claims court, and then do it if he still refuses.

does anyone know if I have to take the clutch appart to press it off the crank???

I have the crank out of the case and on a press, this is what the clutch still looks like.....

i will check the price on all of these parts and you can check and see if your oil pump is good.

no leave it together. you will need a puller for the clutch. you can spray some pb blaster in the hole for now to help with the removal. i think that the srx puller is the same as this machine and i have one of these. please check and see if they are the same. what year is your sled.

you'll need a clutch puller.... It kinda looks like the clutch bolt with along non threaded portion in front of the threads(opposite side of the head of the bolt).

i have it mounted in a 12 ton press right now..... I have the crank pointed down, the clutch is on a support, I installed the bolt with an inch of slop.....should I be able to press it straight off????

98 vm 600.......

you measure up 15mm from the bottom of the piston skirt then measure dia. witch should be
74.702-74.721mm(2.945-2.946 in)
