got to solve why my SRX won't scream as it used to

next weekend will be on the Red for sure..pinned all the way.No Bob TPS not the issue.Think for a second.Ran good 2008..stored for summer ..ran bad in all 2009 and start of this season. It is something I overlooked. This summer I had mice chewing at the pads on the bars and found they chewed various wires also..but fixed all that and still same as last year...running wise.

TODAY..I went from 1 side of the sled to the other tracing wires again..something had to be wacked ..Checked the wires under the pad again, the obvious ones.THEN..I decided to trace each wire back even further. There was a bullet connecter there that I got to and turned it over and the connecter was exposed to the air,the rubbery stuff eaten away 1 side, connection was a little loose.I said to myself..them F'in mice. This was chewed through in summer of 09 then. The padding had only a slight eaten out section, wasn't much really and no nests like this past summer. So I taped it up tight and good not thinking it was an issue.GUESS WHAT??IT WAS THE FRIGGIN ISSUE....there must of been a grounding going on as this connecter was faced towards the frame..so maybe at high rpm's there was a arching going on..enough to maybe allow the motor to open up..yup..can you believe this.Ran all last year like this.

SO THEN..to all you guys out there with performance issues or lack of spark or intermitent issues..usually after summer storage and you take your sled out for the first time in the new season..something is not working right..BLAME the 4 legged..long tailed bast@rds for that in most case.GUYS check your wiring under that pad..it is a must for me now every season. But from now on the pads are coming out during storage and a lot of poison and traps being placed around the sleds.
Can you blieve this was the issue,,never thought it would come down to this..patience and some tracing skills required only.... :o| holy mouse tail Batman..light a match and burn the sled..not YET!!!!

yeah I am really happy now....Had stock clutching today with 5.4 in tip and was hitting 100 no problem in some of the straight aways and rpms around 8400-8500.Clutches were totally cool to the touch also. Now it is time to strap on them 8Bu-10's and see really what the SRX can do..Thanks for all your suggestions guys..but doesn't it seem like most times it is basically a obvious solution.......even starts better now..wow..idles better now also.
So how was that open connection really stopping the motor??Is it because it is grounding that it doesn't allow for proper spark or timing or a weaker spark to the plugs.....
Nearly killed myself today..hit a drift on the ditch trail at about 80 and the front end was up at about 11 o'clock position..wow that felt like the old days....

Good for you bud......but I was hoping for a Youtube video. Maybe you can get us one of over 100 with the helmet cam and those 8bu-10's your going to be running!

Hey guys,
I don't post alot on here but I had to write something about this whole event! I've been in suspense all day! Checking periodically at work waiting for the outcome on Blues dilemma. Thank god he figured it out! Glad it's running like it used to.
Ride safe.

oh oh blue will be just at my side now with the freaking monster sled ..time to push on the nitrous ....glad u find ur problem .....let uss know about those 8bu i'm sure u will love the pull if u put for sure the perfect helix to match ... :letitsnow :letitsnow

yep..getting it set up NOW.Gonna just try what I had it at before...3.6 outer and 2.4 inner and see what the difference will be.Last time only hit 8-8100 wot. 53 g total,w-w-w primary, red at 80 wrap and 50/40 helix.Want to see what the difference will be now and adjust from there.

mod is hiding now I think...The 50/40 stays in the family longer.I wasn't riding my Arctic Cat today..it is in the shed sleeping..poor thing is 36 years old and still goes..lol.I am riding all day tomorrow testing both my sleds with clutching.
Trying out a 49/45 helix on the 600,had it out the other day.had to much weight in primary..now I removed some weight..should go good as the SRX now.... ;)!

jealously will get you no where..lmao.Don't remember what color wire it was crew...The wires that were more on top were eaten away from this past summer. The bullet connector was lower in the pile, just happened to grab it and check were it was going and then seen the eaten side was facing away from view and close to the frame....all last season running like that..no wander I couldn't pull good numbers on speedo.... :o| Can't wait to see what them 8BU's will do for me..better pull good is all I know...Fun for the rest of the season now,no more wrenching to do..just fly now..lol

forgot to mention that with the 45 pilots installed and about 1.5 turns out on screws..she is idling perfect..even after hard runs....what a different sled now.. ;)!
