8BU-10 setup ..round 1

now I don't feel so bad..lol..Changeing ski's as we speak....my carbides are basically all shot excepy 1 run on the simmon's.I got the carbides they sent with the ski's,they are less aggressive..good for the 600.Putting the USI single carbidies on my SRX..good for another 10 mph..catching up to you..lol

blue, get those skis off of there and get the stockers back on. my buddy ran the stud boy duece carbides on his apex, and lost a good 6mph on the speedo on top end. he also lost 2mpg. those extra carbides kill top end. stock skis w/6" or so of single carbide, is a much better choice for top end mph.

hey blue did love ur video about that freaky army boy getting a uggly doo lollllllllllllll

got the USI ski's on the SRX,betheviper helped me solve my steering issue with them..In powder they will push more then the Simmon's and Simmon's did grab better with dual carbides..oh well!!!

is it cold over there blue ???here its -15c....where is my crank i wanna go for a little rip

-2mpg just from dual carbides. Yikes!!

so you guys say stock skis are best for top end.... i have slydogs, single carbide. the skis were lighter than stock i had believed... not sure changing from stock to these would hurt top end...

modsrx..it has been brutally cold here...-35 last night ..windchills -45...today -26 most of day still cold till tomorrow.Later Sunday it changes back to like -10(still -26 windchills) and milder for rest of week...maybe I will be able to ride again..I hate the cold.... :brr

But tomorrow we will ride for sure.We got the triple SPI's on the XTC,did clutch setup, changed jets and adjusted needles in carbs..we'll see how the XTC 700 performs in the cold weather...hope no burn down...

8bu10 combo

Thought I'd share my set up with the 10's. Bikeman's set up recommendations are to run 8BU10's for their 780 ( viper ) interesting eh ! 4.5 in both holes, haulk L helix, 45\39 grn @70. Engages at 4000 initial shift to 8450 quick to 8650.Hole shot is alittle soft but the midrange\topend pull is really strongIf I try to run the bender helix 49\46 silver @70 it pulls the motor down to hard. 8200 slow to get there but will pull 8600. Running some 1000' drags today in perfect hard pack conditions. Will test my Heel Clicker R\Rooster set up, Heavy Hitter/shockwave set up, and the 8bu10 combo. One thing is for sure the Heel clickers with the 41\37 roller sec is tried and true performer. Should be interesting! I know it's not an SRX ( owned 2001 ) but I thought this info might help.

Took the SRX too the races and was a little disapointed in it, but it wasn't the sleds fault, it was the race track that was made had 1/2inch of snow and then foot and half of ice underneath no traction at launch but made up for it in mid-range but still lost needed my pick track BIG time there, better luck next time I guess

I been thinking about running this in my srx6 not sure where to start with the weight but I have to look at my notes to see what she will pull.

Round 2

Since I finally solved my SRX performance issue..got the 8bu-10's on board and loaded tip good 4.5 plus washer and .85 inner with w-w-w primary.Turk recommended 52/44..I used a a 51/43 because it is all I have besides the 50/40.Got green at 70 and got to admit right out of the hole straight to 8200 and climbs.Just need a long stretch to see final rpm.It is smooth thru out..track with 120 studs still spinning a lot, been adjusting the transfer and maybe will set the straps up front tighter yet..not sure. The skis come up about 6 inches now instead of 1 to 2 feet..and sled stays straight.Once traction starts to bite in..she really pulls away..got to 95 in a hard packed section and a little bumpy farmers field without any effort.I think I will like this setup better then the stock weights.Man my SRX finally is showing its colors now..can't wait for super hard pack or ice cover somewere and hang on to the bars when I pin it... ;)!

The beast is back...

anyone ever try 3.6 rivets in both holes on the 8bu10's? doesnt seem like it would be too far off but i guess you would want more weight in the tip...

weather permitting im gonna do some test&tune with the 8bu10's as well
for some reason im having alot more fun with my sled knowing whats going on with it and so on...

Matty we tried the exact set up your talking about. It worked well but our goals where top end speed and the tranfer of weight closer to the tip gave us slightly better results on ice..

It is a little warmer today and I will go out and do some more running and see what gives. The main thing is the SRX is back to its self again..nearly 2 years od figuring it out...

If anybody has a set of 8bu-10 weights or an RX-1 51/43 helix I need both. I screwed up and sold my set of 8bu-10's by accident
