8BU-10 setup ..round 1


Tried my 8bu 10s today. Took rivets out of bottom hole total weight is 57 grams. 49 45 bender with red cat spring. 196 chisels glare ice. spinning a little still but held 8500 pretty much from start to finsh around 1000 feet.
 
put a silver spring in there blue that thing will held 8500 but top end i guess will suffer

No one with radar gun. Dream meter is just that. I would see 120 on my 2001 srx but day I ran it on gun was 110. I can tell ya sled pulled real hard with this set up. Put 48 more chisels in shouldnt spin any more.

57 gram seem alots but i guess u run a pretty stiff total force spring
 
To be honest not sure what it is. Orange and red kind of beat up one shim. Got to get it to bite. Any ideas Its engaging at about 4400. 196 chisels some one at bender told me drop front 1 inch shock shaft showing. Crank front shock up back of rear inch and a half showing. Seems to bite better once it gets going. Will lift ski but got get right back on it.
 
I tried 4.5 in both holes a while back before I solved my electrical issue.She would basically stop at 8000rpm and that was it..Flat feeling at that point.

Tried y-w-y primary,3.6 inner..0 outer,green at 70 back in early December for the hell of it.Launched to 8500,dropped to 8200 and got 90 on speedo.

I tried yesterday with w-w-w... 53 g total..got 105 speedo red spring at 80..50/40,but rpms were about 8200..not bad with low rpm..

I still think a 51/43 will work for both my 8dn and 8bu's ..

this all on snow covered river..not ice..I got 118 years back on ice with 51/43
 
Just got done catching up on the new posts......whats your plan for testing tomorrow blue....got to give me something...I can't ride till sat and I haven't been able to come up with 8bu-00 to try in mine, but I am itching!!!!!
 
I will try 50/40 red at 90 first..then green at 70.Then switch w-w-w to yw-y and start with green at 70 with 51/43 helix and go from there.I want to shave down a helix a tad to get the belt to drop down a little further in 2ndary..can afford to drop down another 1/4' I measured..safely and hoping belt won't climb out of primary..lol..but it shouldn't
 
no not yet...it is cold today..windchill is -30's right now..probably won't do any testing again..getting lazy and starting to hate winter..the cold and all....
 
lollllll...getting scared of the weekend suppose to have alots of people on the radar on the lake .................................little srx will pull 110mph ....

well went for another test today and I'll tell you I think I have it.Took out w-w-w-w and installed y-w-y back in.Put my 51/43 helix in with green spring at 70.

Now first thing..sled has been sitting for a couple of days.I can't believe it took only 1 pull to fire it up today using choke of course.NOW that is a first..so things seem to be good in that department..

All I can say is wow...them 8bu,s pull way harder then the 8DN's..to much actually.Since the snow here is loose around the ditches and floodway trail..if I pin it from any speed..30,50 or even 70 mph..that track below me just spins out violently and is looking for traction..that really amazes me .Did a few runs along the floodway trail and of course she spins out to and no more 8500 first,drops fast once some traction is gained to 8200 and slowly climbs to 8400..got to love the pull.Got it to 90 but had to stop in fear of death....
Can't wait to take her out to the big river tomorrow were I have more compact snow and do some runs.BUT is the pull ever awesome with these weights and the 51/43 seems to be working good for now.Will ride all day tomorrow and see how that helix holds up..but it is looking good.Just love the wicked pull...SRX is running great now....time to ride..ride..ride....less wrenching....lol
