I do remember him having some kind of ties with Yamaha. He had a factory 800 SRX motor in a SXR chassis with triples. That sled was F/S on here a few years ago. They were never in production. From my understanding however, they were more like proto-types but did exist2ooosrx said:If you remember 800 on the site he had at one time 6 of them.
If people want a 800, why don't they just buy a bigbore?
I mean sure a factory 800 is nice and valuable, but are you going to ride it? How are you going to get spare parts for it?

Seems to me that if such a critter was commonly available then so would the big bore for an 800....cuz good enough isnt ever good enough for some people! I would be tickled to find a 2000-02 brand new still in crate!

yeah, 800 (bill gohr), worked for yamaha for a few years, after he worked for OMC motors w/my uncle. bill gohr did have some 800 factory engines, that were used in the sno-cross sleds. when i talked to him, he said that he had 4 engines. he did have that sx-r on here a few years back, that had a rare 800 srx motor in it, w/triple pipes. i think he had bender big bores on there.

JOSH IS RIGHT ON. ONLY FACTORY 800 WAS RACE MOTORS FOR SNO-CROSS. I ASKED THE YAMAHA REP ONCE WHERE IS THE 800 SRX, HE TOLD ME WHAT WE NEED A 800 FOR, WE BEAT EVERYBODY WITH A 700. lol!!!! TRUE STORIE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
They had 800 triple snocross sleds? when?? what did they compete against. 98-2002 was primarily 440 and 600 twins racing snocross from what I remember pretty much the same as now.mopar1rules said:yeah, 800 (bill gohr), worked for yamaha for a few years, after he worked for OMC motors w/my uncle. bill gohr did have some 800 factory engines, that were used in the sno-cross sleds. when i talked to him, he said that he had 4 engines. he did have that sx-r on here a few years back, that had a rare 800 srx motor in it, w/triple pipes. i think he had bender big bores on there.

This is interesting as the only 800s in snocross I remember were BB RedHeads built by an aftermarket company[maybe Maximum???] in open but there was talk about Yamaha raciing an 800 twin for Snow cross racing but I never saw one.

There was also an Open Class. Thats the only class Yamaha could really compete in and what Nathan Titus did so well in.

I believe the Mod snowcross sleds were 800cc till '08 or some year around there.

NATHAN TITUS DID INDEED RUN 800 OPEN WITH FACTORY YAMAHA BUILT 800cc IN SNO-X. TIME FRAME WAS PROBLEY EARLY 2000,s. AND I THINK THE MOTOR WAS A TWIN. NOT SHURE THOUGH. 3:16 (Yammie tony)
Makes more sense that it was an 800 twin. Can't hardly believe that a trple could compete with the twins. But I don't know I'm not a big snocross follower so I am just guessing. I would love to see a picture of one if indeed they were triples.YAMMIEGOD3:16 said:NATHAN TITUS DID INDEED RUN 800 OPEN WITH FACTORY YAMAHA BUILT 800cc IN SNO-X. TIME FRAME WAS PROBLEY EARLY 2000,s. Here is a vid of what I believe is a twin 800cc open class Yamaha Sno-X effort from the pro-action days. Also the birth of the mono shock skid. I know the Yamaha boys in this area used to race something like this back in the day. Next time I'm in for parts I will ask about it.

I don't know when that video is from but it must be old they are still running a trailing arm chassis in that video. I looked back as far as 2006 and they have been running Nytros in the open class as far back as then.Netefrog said:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeNEcwR0Yg0

Mono shock was released to public in 05 so im guessing this was probobly in the 04 season testing?? Maybe 03 early stages??

The 800 triples were built by Hauck.

I bought and sold some stuff with Bill and he told me he had a connection to buy scrap from Yamaha. Kind of like a grab bag. Cant remember if he said it was an auction or not though. Anyway, he would get a pallet all wrapped up, there would be lots of test engines, parts etc. Some would be destroyed. The 800s he had were complete snow cross motors. As I remember, they were not srx but were viper based cylinders. They destroyed them by smashing the vin number out of the cases. He would just get used cases, mill them out to fit the larger casting of the 800 cylinders. He said the outside of the cylinders looked the same, it was the lower skirts that were thicker and had some fit issue with the stock cases to fit in.
As for a 800 srx manufactured in the box, sounds like a load of crap. I have also when following sno cross had never heard of a 800 twin yamaha.
All of the above is from my memory of which has been full for years and alot of stuff leaks out.

My friend had a 2001 sxr built by yamaha usa. It had 760 hauck engine. Monoshock skid, (not the 2005- model) and modfied front end, higher and longer shocks. This was a awesome sled

Same here. A tag along fella (former snowcross racer) came with us on a UP trip about 5 years ago and he had a 760 BB built by Hauck. It was a redhead motor, w/ Simons CPR pipes in a '99 SX 700 skid, Ohlins all the way around and a 1.5" challenger track and modified tunnel. I rode it a few times and it flat out ripped. He said it was the same thing Titus was racing a few years back. I wish I had that motor. I would slip it into a SXR frame and have some fun.
