vmax4-800

so u think a preload of 45 should work on those vmax bob ???

I have not run stock weights or springs on this sled since I first got it but:

Stock primary spring preload was 30kg with the stock weights so going to 45kg preload would raise the engagement RPM a lot! I think you want to get the engagement down so you have to decrease preload.

Just a thought...
The early Yamaha primary clutches that came on the VMAX4s were the "short covers" with the "Short" springs. The Later Yamaha primary clutches like on the 1999 and up SRXs were the "tall cover" and used the "tall" springs...these springs must match the cover you are using.

WHAT BELT YOU USEING. IF YOUR ALREADY IN 70. PLEASE DON,T TELL ME YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING BUT A YAMAHA BELT ON. ALSO IT IS VERY CRITICAL TO HAVE CLUTCHES IN PERFECT SHAPE. IF THE SLED DON,T MOVE FOR 200 RPM, I CAN PROBLEY GUESS YOU CAN FRY A EGG ON YOUR PRIMARY. YOU ALSO MIGHT HAVE CLUTCH HANG, IN UP. PUSHING, STUCK ROLLER, BINDING ISSUES, etc. 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

Mod...

You may want to try your SRX primary on that VMAX 4 and see how it works...would help to trouble shoot the problems.

Just a thought..

well its a primary from a 93 or 94 with a srx cover to put the longer primary spring ...is it something wrong ???we use a long w-w-w srx spring in there ...if my clutch work there we give them a shot ..........but i'm pretty sure the problem is to high engement spring ....... now the problem is no dealer got those spring in stock for the weekend lolll

everything is new in there and no bidding or anything else ...we try to yamaha belt and same problem ...sure can almost fry a egg lollllllllll.... ;)! ..will buy a lower preload spring and see from there next week

SRX PRIMARY WILL NOT GO ON BOB WITHOUT FILING DOWN FINS BEHIND PRIMARY ON PTO CASE. ALSO SOME 800 VMX 4 ,s HAD TALL COVERS. I BOUGHT BOTH MY 800,s NEW AND THEY CAME WITH TALL COVERS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

if we put a srx cover on the clutch we should be fine to run srx spring....the one we got came from with a short cover ..and we change it with a srx cover

Both my 95 + 96 800s came new with the short cover primary clutches...intersting yours had the tall covers...I wonder if its a Canada/USA thing?

I didn't realize the SRX/SX primaries wouldn't fit on my 800s...never tried I guess.

i think they do fit but i did read somewhere that u need to grind the pto line

93-94 WERE 100% SHORT COVER. TO RUN ANY TALL COVER (srx ) SPRING YOU MUST CHANGE COVER TO PREVENT POSSIBLE BINDING ISSUES. THE BACK FINS MUST BE SHAVED DOWN TO RUN A SRX PRIMARY ON THE VMAX 4 TO GET CORRECT OFFSET. 3:16 (yammie tony)

tony we put a srx cover on that primary anything else i mist doing the conversion for tall spring

I have done this in the past and it worked fine, so as far as I know, just the tall cover and spring is all you need to do to use the late model tall springs.

the higher the chaincase gearing (numeric) the more clutch weight it will run
the lower the chaincase gearing (numeric) the less clutch weight youll run

So if you drop a tooth.....say, 21 to a 20, and leave the clutch alone, what would more than likely happen?

Mod...

Does that 750 still have the original secondary clutch on it? If so I would highly recommend he updates the jack shaft and secondary to the newer style.

LOL!

It never ends

MORE ACCELERATION AND LESS TOP SPEED. RPM UP SLIGHTLY. 3:16 (yammie tony)
