your belt side clearance will be larger if you machined the sheaves not smaller.

you check this by having the belt sitting at rest all the way down in the front and slip feeler guages between the belt sides and the sheaves, so if you took out the edges and blened it into the sheave your clearance will be wider, it will raise up the engaement speed some because the moveable shave must travel more to clamp the belt sides. Your looking for .020-.025", I bet your bigger and while larger belt side clearance is good for drag racing to slam in on the belt it doesnt work out too well for trail riding trying to move the sled slowly, will just grease/burn the belt edges.

way to fix it is to use offset collars for the fixed sheave, bring it back to whatever you took out of the sheaves for overdrive. hauck sells them in all differnt thickness .

i think we found the problem here someone put some 16.5 roller in there

that will certainly raise the engagement speed and the shift rpm!

yeah i know that clutch come from a 94 but i never think the roller was different ....stupid thing is i did mesure them but forgot to check the tech page ....we found some 15mm roller will try and see if it goes better.......and order 2 new spring with less preload if the roller doesnt do the job will try the spring

ROLLERS VERY CRITICAL. 94 VMAX 4 HAD 89A- 10 WEIGHTS, BIG DIFFERENCE OF THE PROFILE OF THOSE AND A 8BU. MIGHT BE PROBLEM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

he will probably go for a try tomorow night with it to see if its better .....
we put 15mm roller in it and we buy 2 spring lower preload if the w-w-w still doesnt work ....

Engagement would stay the same....wouldn't it?

Engagement does go up as roller size goes up, as larger rollers apply less shift force, due to a larger contact angle to the weight, thus requiring more rpms to generate the same shift force as a smaller roller with a lower contact angle in degrees.

HAVE TO USE THE 8BU BELT. EVERYTHING ELSE IS CRAP. ESPECIALLY AFTERMARKET. VMAX4 DON,T LIKE HARD COMPOUND BELTS. 8BU BELT IS MEDIUM/ SOFT COMPOUND AND WORKS THE BEST. ANOTHER THINK TO CHECK FOR YA. 3:16 (yammie tony)

yes tony we try 2 8bu belt and same result ...it really look like the clutch doesnt apply enough force went the clutch engage .....will see with the smaller roller .hope the best ;)!

does the smaller roller will change the maximum rpm ??rpm was a little to high

smaller rollers change BOTH the engagement speed and the shift rpm (lower rpm)

larger rollers change BOTH the engagement speed and the shift rpm (higher rpm)

;)! ;)! ;)!

well we buy 15mm will see how it work going wrenching on that sled .........

we try the sled today ...clutch are running good for engagement ...helix is a little to aggressive it shif way to fast running at low speed now ...but now we can't try it no more the motor seize dammmit ...............pto piston melt ....we had problem with overheating and the sled was on the lean size with the 150 main jet
