take this however you wish but if it were me id be running bigger pilots, i have an 800 with bender quads, no porting and I'm gonna start with 52.5's with fuel screws at minimum 2.5 turns out to start.
 

it will not cured the problem in midrange ...............but for sure it could be good

running 160 in main ...main will not cured the problem in midrange will see tonight if moving the clip to the max spot will cured if not will change needle for smaller size
 
IN 1987, NEW EXCITER HAD SAME PROBLEM, BURNING DOWN IN MID. YAMAHA WORKED WITH PSI FOR RICHER NEEDLE JETS. 1988 PROBLEM SOLVED. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
If you can't get rid of the mid range lean spot with the nedles and you don't have an air leak somewhere you could try installing larger needle jets.
The stock vmax4 800s had 499 series Q-4 needle jets and the 700 SRXs have 499 series Q-6 needle jets so you could install 4 SRX needle jets and see if it improves your lean condition.

As a side note:
I have my 96 VMAX4 set up basically the same as this and have close to 6000 trouble free miles on it since the porting and Aaen pipe installation and have NOT had to richen up my needle jets beyond Q-4s.

i beleive it ....... :o| :o| ...we close back the air box ..sound to run better not look to be to lean in mid not sled hesitate being to ritch and clip 5 ...but still got a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bahhhhhhh at low speed it seem like the sled doesnt do power at all went u start moving .....will close those pilots jet tonight and see the difference ...
that sled seem not to have any dc current anywhere so the o2 gauge doesnt work like it should ....getting out of idea with that monster :bump: ...went the motor clean up in gaz it jump on rpm but before that it meuhhhhhhhhhhhh meuhhhhhhhhhh bahhhhhhhhhh bahhhhhhhhh

yeah i guess so lolll... i chew up a another pwr valve yesterday lollll..remove head take the power valve out put the head back didnt put nothing back there and sled work like hells loll..what the hell those power valve do lolll..didnt see no difference at all loll
