I RUN 5500 ENGAGEMENT IN MY 95 800 FOR GRASS RACING, MY CLUTCHES FEEL LIKE THEY WERE IN A/C. PRIMARY SPRING AIN,T YOUR PROBLEM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I agree that there is more going on here then just a primary spring. Its time to go over all components of both the clutches. High power, heavy sleds like this really expose any clutching problems.
Items that can cause belt slippage and shifting problems.:
-worn bushings in primary as well as secondary
-binding/worn clutch weights and rollers
-polished clutch surfaces
-snow, water or other fluid on clutches
-groove worn in engagement area of primary sheaves
-incorrect or worn glazed drive belt
-incorrect centre to centre distance
-bad bearings
-track not rotating freely because of too tall lug height or interferance in suspension or chain case components...try to rotate track by hand
Just some ideas

track does rotate free ...... its just look like the primary doesnt apply enough pressure and slip and slip ..if sheave have been shaved to be closer eatch other in primary wuold u think that could be the problem ???
then ill put my srx clutch on it and see what it does .................

if u want to move the sheave closer to the belt u would not be machining the the sheave u get a 911 respose cover with the belt adjuster and install it on the clutch then u just adjust that as ur belt wears. u allso have 200% more bearing surface area for ur sheave to run on u get this up dated cover from thunder products and every body should be using these covers i use on this as a update to all yami clutches 97 and up

a p 85 polaris clutch works really well on the vmax4 allso

ur gearing is not going to cause the clutch to be slipping period

when u run in the deep snow and long tracks u will be geared 2.0 ratio or little higher flat land running u should be around 1.85 ratio and then that depends if u use 8 inch track drivers or 9 inch

didnt kknow about that ..but we machine the middle shaft then machine the fix sheave so the belt could go higher on primary
well if its over gear its harder to get the sled to move so its hard on clutch ..thats why i ask ...but i think we got stock gear in it 1.60 ratio if my memories is good
could it be because of the ad-boivin suspension....after it roll that thing really goes good ..just need not to go slow so the belt slip .....will it apply more pressure if i put 15mm roller in

DUDE, STILL DON,T EXPLAIN BREAKFAST ON YOUR CLUTCHES. so what kind of belt side clearance do you have now??

MAN, ADDING THOSE SKIDS TO A VMAX 4 TO ME IS LIKE ADDING OIL TO WATER. I KNOW, PLUSH RIDE, BIG BIG SPEED ROBBER BUD. ANYWAYS THAT EXCESSIVE HEAT IS 100% BELT SLIPAGE. NOW I BELIEVE MORE THAN NOT, THE ROOT OF THAT IS IN THE SECONDARY, BUT I COULD BE WRONG. I WOULD TOTALLY TAKE THOSE CLUTCHES APART. 3:16 (yammie tony)
way less than before don this is why im thinking this must be the problemmrviper700 said:so what kind of belt side clearance do you have now??
