yep ....will jump jet size .........

You may want to richen up the needles on this sled as well....just to be safe, until you sort out the jetting.

Also because of the age of this sled, clean the carbs and check/clean the top hat filters under the inlet needle seat, and check the float levels as well.

Some of the early VMAX4s had low float levels and Dyno Tech had one that had a blocked carb vent that caused it to run lean.

VENT TUBE THING IS FUNNY, AFFECT OF THAT ON THE VMAX 4 IS DURING LONG WIDE OPEN PULLS. JIM FROM C& H FOUND THAT THE VMAX 4 WAS BUILDING PRESSURE UNDER THE HOOD WHEN VENT TUBES WERE UNDERNEATH MOTOR CAUSING CARBS TO ACTUALLY ACT RICH. EASY FIX WAS TO REROUTE THEM TO AIRBOX. GREAT FIND AT THAT TIME AND HELPED ALOT OF GUYS JET THESE SLEDS CORRECT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

nothing was ritch there today at -0 :o| :o|

Mod...another thing to note:
-the 1994 Vmax 750 had different needle part numbers then the 1995+ VMAX 800 did

I don't know what the difference is between the needles but you may want to make sure the 800 needles are in those carbs

The needle jets should be the same between the 750s and 800s...my 800 has Q4s in it.

Q4 will be stamped on the needle jet...I don't have the numbers written down that are stamped on the needles.

when i picked up my aaen quads for my '95 i went to aaens shop to talk to him then i seen him at a local grass race what he told me to use was his (special spring)which is 3 pound lighter in total force than yamaha g-g-g stock 8bu-oo 17.2 outer 13.9 inner
39 straight helix silver spring stock rollers
i cant tell you how it works seeing it was 50 here yesterday 40 today w/no
snow at all this year and nothing in the future

I pulled the jets out of a factory calibrated "stock" spare carb rack for one of my VMAX4 800s...here's the info:

Main jet:.......143.8
Pilot jet:.......47.5
Pilot air jet:..1.0
Needle jet:...499 series Q4
Needle:........6GN20

Hope this helps:

Bob

well, I know you love them but thats not exactly true, the current world record srx runs a differnt weight other then the 8bu-10, and its a stock oem yamaha weight. 114.8mph in 1000ft. Dont be suprised if you see around 115.5-116mph this year!(if it ever gets cold enough for ice and snow, :o| )

we try the sled today ...clutch are running good for engagement ...helix is a little to aggressive it shif way to fast running at low speed now ...but now we can't try it no more the motor seize dammmit ...............pto piston melt ....we had problem with overheating and the sled was on the lean size with the 150 main jet

mod, look into the needles................................

HARD TO BELIEVE, AND NOT ARGUING thats flying. MY 2002 SRX 100% STOCK EXCEPT CHISELS AND A 138 POUND DRIVER RUN 110 ON STALKER. HEADS HAVE NEVER BEEN OFF THIS SLED. STOCK GEARING, .092 TRACK, STOCK HEIGHT, etc. ALOT OF GUYS AND SOME YOU KNOW HAVE GONE REAL FAST WITH 8BU-10. 3:16 (yammie tony)
