SRX_700 Do you have a trailer? if you don't, I can understand that's probly why you have it in durham at a family or friends place etc. Do you not think it would be easier to travel straight up the highway into Barrie area? looks like it would be closer for you, maybe 30-45mins...lots of places to ride up there too!

I get all worked up, run out get the insurance pass/permits and by the time the weekend arrives the weather got warm again and its turned to slop/slush and no base under it. Long range shows a warming coming next week.
Here and ok yesterday but gone when you get there or decide to go. LOL

You can get lost in that and if its really blowing as you indicated a few posts before thats even worst your tracks covered right behind you. You can't follow it back. Maybe it will blow over a province or so.bluemonster1 said:man the snow is coming down HARD now...

No trailer or vehicle hitch to pull trailer. Going up Sunday night. I leave at at at my buddys farmhouse. He has 3 other sleds up there as well. Going to try and sled up to either Talisman or Owen Sound early next week. Hopefull the trails will be good by then. Suppose to go to 5 Celsius Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so a good thaw coming next week.
Just can't win.

Yeah a repeat of last year but colder this year. Only BLUE is getting the consistant cold and getting more snow for the base to build up. But I don't want -40's either. Another month and it will be beer on the deck weather. LOL

Well it was -10 F here this morning and no snow but our local big lake (lake gorge) is finally starting to freeze up and that's good because it didn't even come close to it last year. The town does a big winter carnival every weekend In February and they lost a lot of money last year with the lake not freezing and now snow for us so now all we need is it to stay cold and start snowing!

For you I believe that would be a big down pillow. That will soften the ride or you can drive over it. What the heck knowone will know.bluemonster1 said:the snow stopped already, didn't get much..they say tonite.Warming up for weekend is great for riding.Just gonna ride and put on the miles. -2C for Monday and then back to cooler after that.If it remains around -15 to -20..I am out riding for sure.Yes the base here is great now..need move fluff on top.

lol, so you know the area then.
Ya, weve had club events like rib nights at the clubhouses when the trails were "closed". Right around my area there are clubhouses every 15 minutes of riding it seems.
Ive ridden for days in some areas north and never seen one. I guess they were more popular back in the lawless days of sledding. Little pubs in the middle of nowhere. Used to be able to order up a beer and a burger. Ahhhhh the good ol days. lol
As for trail conditions, it's great if you know how to get around the bad area's by side road. If not, there's some deep azz water/mud holes. Too much insulation fell right after a thaw and heavy rain. Ground isnt frozen in alot area's.
Having said that, I'm doing the Owen Sound to Durham loop tonight.
Should be a good 3 hour run.

does it mean they are trying to make up their minds about opening the trails if they are high lighted in grey? because there is a lot of grey right now, its also 2am. but I dont understand why the trail from markdale to owen sound that was green today, is now grey!

Mine shows green from just north of Shelbourne all the way to Owen Sound on the B110.
Not sure where you are looking.

Well it was an epic night that went from 7pm till 2am.
The trails are all new to me since I've been away from the sport for so long, but didnt take long to get back in the "zone". Just couldnt do anything wrong. Nothing like catching huge air on a strange trail with the tree's clippin your elbows. My hearts still racing thinking about last night.
If your a cruising kinda sledder, it's not to bad out there. If your like myself, full throttle or full brake, then your going to tear your equipment up.
We never did make it all the way to Durham as the snow was getting thin, some plowed fields were tough and plenty of rocks and stumps.
All avoidable if your cruising. Seems I always have a ski in the powder in every corner when I'm running tight bush trails. We ended up running across to the Blue Mountain before we got to Durham.
Riding with a pro 800 Switchback, 2 600 Revs and a Nytro 1100. The SRX took the beating like a champ and screamed for more.
It even got me home. Trail side assessment is 1 new ski, 2 carbides, drive axle and related bearings and speedo.
Bent an axle. Stupid mistake. The trail directional signs were all snow covered and I went for the big air knowing the sign was telling me there was a turn. There was, and I didnt. . Landed in the rhubarb and kept goin, but I could feel the rumble. A few miles later the speedo went and as I rolled to the next stop, the bearing was chunking and squeaking.
Onto the highway and headed for home. The last couple miles there was an audible "flop flop flop", but it got me home.
Hopefully it isnt a chunk of track. We'll see after my coffee quota is met.
All in all, A great night out.
Have fun out there, but watch your azz.
Oh ya, the water holes are froze up. Atleast the ones we came across.
