I Love My Viper !!!

Do I love my viper.. I have 7,000 on my 02... The M10 makes this the best sled I have ridden... Only problem I have is a vibration coming from the front drive axle area... When I go down the trail I can feel a vibration in the tunnel since I put the M10 in and the rip saw...

how you like the ripsaw? do that and the m10 at the smae time? wanting to doa simmons/ripsaw upgrade over the summer. think it should transform it to an even better trail tamer :)

more agressive than stock skis are needed with the ripsaw or you will have either plowing or major ski lift in the corners. if anyone wants a like new ripsaw with 144 down the middle i will have one for sale in a couple weeks along with 8 tooth drivers.

what you want for the ripsaw? and why are you trading and what to?
i am going to do a 136" conversion, still trying to deciede 1.25" or 1.5". i loved the ripsaw but need more length for off trail riding. i was thinking $450. it has 144 extreme max stainless studs with 96 of them on woodys double angled backers and 48 on woodys single round backers. all down the middle. looks great and its the best set up to prevent tear outs.

I definitly recomend getting the 2" bar risers i have had my viper for a season and a half and saw a great diffrence in the quality of the ride. I am 6 2" so when i used to stand up i would be bent pretty far and this really helps. But I'm still pretty hunched so i'm thinkig about the 8" inch ajustable ones. If you are thinking about the seat riser you might want to think another inch on the handle bars also. ;)!

If you are looking to go higher check out the type I used from Rox. I think the highest they make is 5" but the nice thing about them is the ability to go forward and backward as opposed to just "getting a rise". I'm 5'10" so the 2" is pretty good for me. If I was hardcore standup I would have considered at least 3.5", but the big problem then is the cables and wiring. I know mountain cables are long enough, but the wiring harness looks like it would become a problem. I don't know how you work around that one?

Here's a pic. Notice I was actually able to move the bars forward instead of keeping them in line with the steering shaft. The adjustability is sweet.

so they articulate at the bottom? how much was that setup and was any cable lengthening needed? looks nice

Yes, you can rotate the bar at the top and rotate the mount at the bottom. I didn't have to make any changes other than loosen a few cable ties and free up the wires a little. Cables were fine, but this would be the max without switching them.

Check em' out at www.roxspeedfx.com You can order right from the site. A little pricy compared to the plain blocks but IMO worth the price.

awesome, thanks a lot! just rode an 06 apex er and the risers made a lot of difference(although the rider forward along with all the other stuf is what really makes it incredible!) and now looking to rise mine a little. always thought risers were just someone wanting to look snox, but now see the reason for em :)

I also love my viper. Or at least i loved it. Last saturday when i raced a friend over a lake, the center cylinder stopped working. I´ve removed the pipe today and discovered many scratches on the piston. I have not checked how the cylinder looks like, but if that also has scratches, which i think it has, my season is over.
For one new cylinder + mounting it, yamaha wants 11000 SEK (~1500$), i bought the sled for 65000 SEK. So that is not an option.
It hurts even more to see some guys riding 1000 of miles with their Yamaha without even change a belt or a spark. Unfortunately my viper wasn´t as bulletproof as i hoped it would be.
I´m convinced that bad jetting caused this to happen.

sorry to hear that :( i am on my second set of plugs and I beleive the first belt and have about 4500 miles :) but I havent touched a thing, carbs clutching, etc. just have it maintained every spring and fall. and drain all gas in the summer.

Was the jetting stock?

Thats really cool i did not know that they made that, but it is definitly worth trying. to get around th extention problem i haven't figured that out yet but its realy importaint because the throtle cable on my friends RX-1 goes through there and he has the bar risers so sometimes when he would start it up the throttle cable woud have a little tension on it so it would take off on him. But i would have to insert som kind of extra wires to be able to make the 8" inch work. thats a cool sled you have. The bar risers realy are smart because you can change the position when your standing or sitting. ;)!
