Wellwell I also went the dealer and got a new headlight bulb for the SRX:).

I see 4 headlights in that photo, and pretty shiney ones at that!

hi guys!
haha I must say that I didn`t quite understand what you ment with 4 headlights.. I find three but where`s the last?.

Well anyway I can`t wait to get the package from Rich, mostly V-Max parts but there are some small but important parts for my SRX, rivets for the flap & hood air intake webs, and the second blue hotgrip, (somehow managed to order only one the first time I ordered them).

Gees it`s 5+ outside and the rain is pooring down.
If this continues then I will have to buy a doo or something, that way I`ll have a hobby all year around, could stay in the workshop for ages just doing all the rebuilds they need.. .

Nah only kidding, I`m not a "brand geek" , but we all know that Yamaha has the most reliable and good looking sleds.

Hi guys !

On Friday I got a nice little taste of "christmas" eve. The package from Rich arrived with all the V-Max 4 parts and a new chaincase gasket, hood straps, rivets and the second hot grip for my SRX.

Gees I like it.

Old flap.. .

New flap installed.. .

Old grips.. ugly as hell. When I looked inside the bar I could see that there was something inside it, but it was about 10cm from the end of the bar, is that the inside-bar-grip heater?. Well it didn`t work so that`s why I installed the hotgrips.

HPIM2016Medium.jpg

Here`s the connection.. the hotgrips are connected in series so it`s very easy to install.

New grips installed. I sanded the bar a little, then cleaned it and then used two component epoxy glue to get them "mounted" properly. (I also put a rivet in them ofcourse).

I then put the gears & chain back on, I though this was alittle wierd:
HPIM2018Medium.jpg

Like, the edge of the axle wasn`t sticking as much out as I thought it would, but it seems to be correct so.. incase it`s not supposed to be this way, tell me:).

I then put the pipes back on and filled her up with fuel, fired her up and gees it was so nice to hear the sound.

HPIM2019Medium.jpg

However, I wonder how the bender can-spring-arrangement is supposed to be?. I got two normal typical manifoil-->pipe springs and one 10cm long softer spring, wonder where they should be mounted. But I guess I will figured out.. I was somewhat stressed on saturday because I just wanted to get her running before my brother in law turned up with his new 1999 Mountain Max 700:

Gees, the seller gave him the wrong key so we haven`t fired it up yet.. hehe.

Well anyway when I had my sled running I turned heat knob on max and really didn`t expect that the grips would become warm since the sled was idling, but gees they got hot !!. I`m so happy, will be so cool not having to stop every now then to avoid freezing my fingers off.

On Tuesday I think I will try to mount everything on the hood. (air intake webs etc.) . I wonder if I should mount the hood on the sled and then mount all the air intake webs?. Or should I just take a thick blanket and put on the floor and then turn the hood upside down and start working.. hmm well time will show.

Gees soon christmas, still no snow!!!

Hi guys !

Spent another 10 hours in the garage today, and now she`s done:)
First I mounted all the air-intake-webs, cold air kit, and the hinches etc.

Then I put the hood back on the sled and mounted everting.

After that I mounted the pipes and made some springs for the canister.
Then cleaned up the water-bridge between the cylinders and the clutch cover, just to make things look a little better.

All stock

Then I polished the bootboards & rear end one more time by hand, to make sure they were shiny enough, hehe.

The carbide bolts/nuts looked rusty so I painted thme with black rust-resistant paint.
The last thing I did was to apply "black chrome" (to make black plastic more black) on the black plastic below the handlebar, also cleaned the seat a little.

Here`s a few temporary "done" pics, the messy garage with no snow doesn`t to the sled justice.. I`m sure you know what I mean.

Let there be light:).

I replaced the headlight bulb today because I smashed the old one (in the clutches), the old bulb was 85W, which also explained why the wire-connector had melted a little. The new one was 55W, guess that`s the correct watt amount.

Wellwell, will post picture of the sled outside in daylight with snow (???) as soon as possible.

:)

Hi guys !

Thanks alot for the nice comments, really nice:).

I`ve been thinking of the blue belly yes.. but it doesn`t bother me. It might not be "normal" to have a black hood and blue belly.. but who cares:). It will all look better when all the white nice snow is surrounding the sled.. .
The rain is pooring down outside now.. gees this really sucks. But the weather report said that it would be colder on Friday and that it would snow. I really hope so because my brother in law just bought a Mountain Max 700 and he hasn`t been able to ride it yet (he has little experience with sleds) so it will be like like christmas eve x 2 if we get some snow.. .

Oh did any of you guys see my "question" about the driven gear in the chaincase ?. (just wondering).

Wellwell thanks again for all the replies.

Joakim
