I guess what I was/am trying to say is, if it was farther north by Cadillac for example I would be able to make it. I live just north of Detroit and would have to drive to Grayling(where my sled is kept) then back down to G.R. to go sledding, thats all. I reall have no place to keep it but "up north". Bandit

actually you want it 2mm before the lines line up because usally they over oil at fact specs.
and thstorms all this info is here, search is your friend.
set idle
set tep
set oil pump
I have tried search a few times, all the threads Ive read have links and pics to descriptions that are not like my system..... I read 94-96 oil pump threads, 97 oil pump threads, and even your thread about a 98 600 xtc!!!! that is why I asked a couple of the questions like about cable adjustment at the pump itself!!!
Im sorry I feel like a complete idiot, Its a simple mechanical oil pump!!!! its not complicated at all!!!!!!
when Pete looked at it he thought it looked new, like it was supposed to be when I baught the sled!!!! well...... Im here to tell ya it doesnt work like new!!!!!!!
I went to Gun Lake today....... rode 60 miles, a little over a 1/4 tank and I didnt use a drop of oil!!!!!!!!!!! none..... zero..... zilch.......
I did finally open it up across the lake!!!!!
Its a dog on full throtle launch!!!!!
Mid range is OK......
Top end is 7,000 rpm....... from what Ive read I should be a little over 8,000 rpm???
I read the whole clutch IQ thread (you know the one....for ski donts) and a couple others last night...... so here goes.....
My Clutch:
Primary stock 8ca weights/red spring(if anyone knows the initial and final force it would be a huge help!!!)
Secondary 42-53 Helix/white spring wound to 70#(#1 bottom hole/#6 top)... again spring force would be a huge help!!!
Engagement 3,300 rpm
WOT 7,000 rpm
here are my thoughts from what ive read:
I dont loose any r's once I'm at 7g's so I could probably stand to increase the twist to 90# but I dont know what holes to use......
my launch r's are a little low so I could also stand to go up a little on the initial spring force in the Primary..... how much???? need to know where Im at first....
my other thaught is my fly weight could be a little to heavy.... but those are stock, so I would sooner think someone was swaping springs before that didnt know what they were doing!!!!! If he couldnt fix a case with JB Weld I mean what could he have done right..... LMAO!!!!

found a pump on ebay...... $75 cant afford it for a couple weeks!!!!
It says its for a '95..... the part # is right..... it looks right!!!!!! will it work????
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110468579555
It just doesnt seem right!!!!! every thread I read people find something else to be the problem unless the pump is dumping too much oil........

First of all I dont think that the oil pump off a 95 will work on that engine but I'm not 100% sure of that. Second, your clutching is way off IMO I have a 98 SX and heres what I have for clutching 8ab's for weights in primary, not sure on the color of primary spring but it engages at 3800 my secondary has a 51/43 helix with a red spring @ 60 degrees and my max rpm is 8000-8100 rpms.

I hate to get in the middle of this but..................
Is it possible the highly reputable seller of this sled changed the oil pump
with the wrong one. Kind off what the heck, what ever is cheapest,
It does not matter because it will granade anyway when the JB weld leaks.
Just a thought....

you need to read the 30 pages in the middle of the thread.

What exactly drives the pump, a belt, or some sort of coupler? Are there parts missing? Or could it be a junk pump that was just cleaned up..... Just my $.02
oil pump is run by the water pump which is belt driven off the crank. if the belt was broke you would think it would be over heating and also that would have been discovered during tear down / rebuild .
to check if the pump is working since you are already running premix , when its idling reach down and hold the oil pump lever full bore , that thing should start smokin like a pig if the pump is working.

Pump setting
yeah that is the one I used!!! the only difference before is I had the pump set way too rich..... 1/4 turn past WOT!!! and it still didnt pump oil!!!

excellent suggestion!!!!!
I am going to pull the oil tank today....... screen filter the oil just to see if I find any debris, pull the pump and all the oil lines and clean them too!!!!
If I can get brake clean to spray through the oil pump at WOT then it should draw oil....... if not Im gonna guess my fuel pump is plugged, or the check ball is stuck

I know that there is no JB weld now, but I am still not sure that seller did not know it was there.
how can you tell the diference in the right and the wrong pump????
mine looks exactly the same as the one on the micro fische.....
the '95 pump on ebay has the right part# for my Oil Pump, looks the same...... I think the seller is just guessing on the year....... I cant pull the 95 pump up on the micro fische, what is the 95 model# for a 600 twin????

my 94 600 APPEARS to be the same pump that was on my 97 600.
try letting it idle and hold that pump full bore , i replaced all the lines on sleds and thats how i got them primed and using oil.

hay storms if your running pre mix in the tank, then take the line feeding the fuel pump oil and plug it, and put a clear line on the oil pump exit nipple and start the motor and you will be able too see if the oil pump is pumping and by moveing the lever you should see it increase an decrease

Very smart idea.
another good idea for sure!!! I am still going to pull the oil tank, drain, and clean it....... the master engine builder that had this sled surely could have dropped something in the tank....!!!
the last seller had Maxima Tundra oil in it anyway..... I have a gallon of yamalube, I was gonna slowly change it but I will save the Tundra for a sunday ride when the dealers are closed and someone forgot to get oil!!!!
