Got the jetting just about perfect today
Will share this setting if there are others who´s thinking of using VX-500 / VX-600 flatslides on their Exciter-
I
Use this as a STARTING POINT though the jetting could be different depending on what u got, please make a lot of plug checks along the way:
*sx needles and nozzles
*pilot jet 52,5
*mainjet 155
*
pilot screw 1,5 turns out
*needle clip middle position
REMINDER :
The
TM carburetors
does not have an
"Air Screw" !!
The
TM carburetors have an
"Fuel Screw" instead and the function is opposite the function of an
"Air Screw" !
The
"Fuel Screw" controls the low speed air/fuel mixture at idle.
The
"Fuel Screw" regulates the
fuel.
By turning the fuel screw
OUT, you are allowing more
fuel to pass the screw,
effectively richening the mixture.
By turning the screw
IN, you are restricting
fuel flow,
effectively leaning the mixture.
The "Fuel Screw" on a TM carburetor can be adjusted up to 5 turns out.

Kind of fed up with my jetting issues now,
beginning to be very impatient...
want to drive!
I'm just foiling plugs and the damn thing sounds like a fourstroke.
I should be right according to the SX jetting but it seems way to rich,
even though it was -10 degrees today..
What can I do guys ?
Just use the Exciter-II "SX" jetting as a safe
baseline jetting and work your way down from there.
Since the "SX" cylinders are ported from factory and your stock Exciter cyliners are not,
you shuld be able to run leaner jetting than the SX jetting.
Carburetor troubleshooting is simple once the basic principles are known.
The first step is to find where the engine is running poorly.
It must be remembered that carburetor jetting is determined by the throttle position, not engine speed.
* If the engine is having troubles at low rpm (idle to 1/4 throttle),
the pilot system or slide valve is the likely problem.
* If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle,
the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem.
* If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle,
the main jet is the likely problem.
