Worst Winter Ever

I just check and the OFSC has not opened any trail around Georgen Bay or anywhere else. The clubs are still reporting them all closed and always has been even some of you say you're out riding! On what, lakes private area? But the trails are ALL closed with the odd limited machine wreckers further north.

I guess people don't care too much because my buddy says the sleds are out runnin pretty hard up there right now. not exactly sure where tho....

We have about a foot of new since last night. Came down hard for a couple hours this morning and they say we may get another 6 inches today.
But ya, machine wreckers is a pretty accurate observation.
But then again, thats what $2000 sleds are for...isnt it? . Ride, wreck, wrench. ;)!
Parts are plentiful used, so short of blowing it up, It's not really a concern.
Rocks and stumps are the least of the beatings my sled takes. lol
My sleds are parts sleds when I'm done with them. :sled2:

I know the club president in my area that lucky to have open trails told me once. They don't want people to go on them until they gone through and groomed them and build a base. We're to stay off until they open them. The whole provice is bleeding RED except the north side of Algonquin park at the moment and not that much green even there.

ya its red everywhere in southern Ontario right now, it really sucks! but just because its red doesn't mean the locals will stay off them. ya they are supposed to until ofsc opens them up, but we all know that just doesn't happen anymore, especially with the winters we've been having. people are going out when theres fresh snow so they feel they are getting their monies worth. don't take me the wrong way, but if I was a local up there I would be out riding too. but I wont travel for it until its officially opened

With my luck I'd be repremanded if a groomer came across and caught me on it. LOL I know exactly what you mean. It there is that much snow why would it take that long to update the status on them. Trailering to where there is open trails is very time consuming and costly especially with gas north of $1.30 in the city now. If a person is local to the system and sees snow he goes I guess. But they should be on private roads, logging trails that aren't OFSC controlled.

Yep, I know a couple here too, and groomer operators, and alot of land owners.
When they see fit to ride, I do too. ;)!
Sun is out between blasts of snow here today, so atleast things are trying to work in our favor.

Went for a ride tonight with the fresh lake effect snow. The field were o.k. but was disgusted with the trails so came home. We had 50 degrees and rain the beginning of the week so lost all the base. It was just constant mud hole after mud hole. THIS SUCKS!!

Yeah I hear ya. Gotten about 10" or so but fields blown with only couple inches. Snowing hard now so see what happens. Are trails are real limited cause of flooding

starting to see more yellow on the map close to me, i'll be picking up the sled on Friday and goin for a rip for sure. then off to the cottage!

Not looking to bad here. Got alot today and it's still coming down.
These pics are right on the main highway through town tonight. The hill is salted every half hour like clock work when it's snowing heavy. The flat downtown roads are salted heavy also, but nothing like the hills coming in and out of the downtown core.

Bought a trail permit in Dec, have not used it yet in Ontario, been to Quebec twice and managed to get in close to 2000 kms, looks like I will be heading there this weekend again.
My sledding partner went to Huntsville this weekend and trails were terrible, they got about 6 inches friday night but still terrible running.

i managed to put on 2000km in ontario this year
all mostly on nicely groomed trails

February 4th and still no trails available until Pembroke.

Explain this sport to me again.

Just got back from an awesome weekend in Dorset/Huntsville area, put on about 370 km's. Trails were great for the most part, especially the D101B from Dorset.

expensive !!!!I spent about $800 on gas already, not counting the oil and maintenance.I don't even feel like riding to much more now this season..snow is here..may go for a couple more rides and that's all.Need the$$ for other things now like my huge Hydro Bills because of the cold weather lately..I think I may be slowly phasing out of the sport to tell you the truth.Actually I can't wait for Spring and Summer..like to keep busy here in the country side keeping my property and garden up to snuff.. :hide:

Everything fun is expensive. :o|
$800 for the snow you've had is good. Just think if the temps had been nice. lol
I hear you though. I'm thinking spring since you posted the pic of your dog lounging on the lawn.
However, I will go burn another $100 tonight. I'll do so pretty much daily as long as there is snow or until I get that chill that takes the fun out of it.

enjoy.I guess it would be more fun if my SRX was running.Just ordered more pv cables(used this time).Gonna solve my cable breaking issue's one way or another.Another thing to..the motor just wasn't opening up like it should, even with valves working.so gonna probably change the stator as it may be the culprit. Also will check carbs over again, check the reeds also..Just got to get this beast performing again..tired of getting pissed off at the SRX..if it still doesn't want to run strong..it may just get a bullet dead center of the motor..lol(not kidding either)

We totally got a dumping last night . Most parts of county got 10 -18 inches yesterday. Still snowing up on what we call the "chautauqua ridge". so things should be good this week and weekend. But of course I see in the long range Mid 30's and Low 40's for highs for next week. WTF!!!!! Least it wont be 50's and 2in of rain. So hopefully keep most of it. Joe Bastardi on weather bell is saying a wintry feb for most of country. We shall see.
