2014 sled anouncement

Arctic Cat shares should rise they say..what about Yamaha Shares?? Oh well all the rumors are coming true.Yamaha's will be built on the the assembly line in Thief River Falls.Good for the American Economy I would think..keeps jobs in the Country.One good thing out of this deal..
 
Talk about mixed emotions. Yamah is/was my number one. Cat I always said I'd give up snowmobiling before I'd ride one. This sled will prob b awesome and I'm really looking forward to riding them at the snodeo. I think this is just a bandaid until there chassis is ready. I think they couldn't pass up selling engines to cat but didn't want to lose market share by doing so.So this will work for a year or two. They said they will release 5 new models in the next 5 years so who knows. I won't buy one. Rather buy an old rev ( that's really what the pc chassis is)

some guys were saying that this is a ploy to have Yamaha sell more sleds using AC chassis. This may be a testing to see how it goes and then the rest of the line up moves to the Thief River Falls location for production.then Yamaha just has to make the motors and maybe some stickers..and still make some money and concentrate on more important things like their Bikes.,quads and boat motors.I wander if dealerships will close and new Name dealerships will start up or will all sleds be sold out of Arctic Cat Dealers in North America..should be interesting.I hope we can still pu parts for our older sleds.
 
how come AC has some 51 sleds to offer the public for 2013...wow never thought they were that big with sled selection.Come on Yamaha where have you been all these years..We need something new..time for the RX1/Apex styles to go and bring on new stuff..never going to happen ,that is why they made this deal with Cat.
 
I just watched the yamaha canada xtx video. I just love how he makes it sound like they built this sled and how much better it is. What a kick in the teeth to all the yamaha faithful.
 
Yamaha always had a 3 year warranty on their sleds sold in the United States[Canada has always only been a one year warranty]
Now on the 2014 model Yamacats the warranty in the States has now been reduced to one year...interesting...
 
It will be fun to run the Cat and Yamaha head to head when they come out of the same factory and have the same engines...but we are not going to be able to so freely release all of our tuning and performance info!
Beating the Arctic Cats with their own product will be a worthy challenge!
 
I guess they expect a lot of things to break in the first few years..a new sled and all..I wouldn't buy the first year production..they have to work out the flaws which may take a few years.BUT you would think with all the experience and confidence Yamaha has with their products,they should be giving us like a 5 year warranty..just like on cars.I mean these things are starting to be expensive as a new car..so why isn't there a good warranty on the product.That would scare me a bit if I was buying new.
Didn't AC have like 100 plus recalls on last years models..what does that say to the consumer..be leary. Buyer beware as well.In Canada I would be paying close to $20,000 with tax on a new 4 stroke..warranty better be better then a year or I am simply not buying one.I wouldn't buy one anyways as I still think the SRX I have is just as good or better in quality.I can see us guys who own older 10 year plus sleds have to put money in them every year..but imagine getting a new 2014 sled and it beaks down all the time or has these little issues that need to be fixed..I would be really pissed off.
 
Beginning of the end of pure 100% yamaha designed,engineered,built snowmobiles.Yamaha was planning to get out back in 2004(comfirmed by Chris Reid on SLEDTALK)so were lucky they push the sled department for this long.Main reason we didn,t see any ground breaking sleds since 2007.Great recession,earthquakes,poor winters all led to this.Only hope now when were down to the big three(doo,poo,yamicat)the mighty honda steps in and cleans house with a new sled design.Until then it will be recalls,headaches,and finger pointing.
 
As a business stand point it makes sense to share technology. The snowmobile industry has always been very secretive from one manufacturer to another. With Yamaha sleds being built at the Arctic Cat factory it looks to me as if Yamaha is implementing their exit strategy in the snowmobile industry and will supply motors in the distant future the way Suzuki did.
There is absolutely no big wow factor with the new Viper. Just my opinion.
 
Not really sure what to think yet. I don't see why Yamaha couldn't just design their own new chassis instead of going to Cat. Unless they're in it for the money of selling more sleds and more engines and not having to design a new chassis which makes sense in the short term. If they indeed move all manufacturing to the US in a couple years (atleast the chassis) then hopefully by then they can turn Cats poor fit and finish around. In the mean time I think its one badass looking sled.

What if??? What if that chassis was originally developed for the yamaha engine and cat just half assed the suzuki engine into it untill the contract was up. Maybe thats why all those cats have the problems they do. Every cat owner has a slopped together sled till now! LOL.
 
I sure would not want to own a 2013 or older Arctic Cat....good luck getting engine parts ect when they no longer have Suzuki engines!
I agree the Yamacat is better then no Yamahas at all.
It does worry me a bit as it reminds me of when Skidoo merged with Moto Ski[I was a Moto Ski owner back then]...we saw Moto Skis that were just hybred Ski Doos for a couple years and then they were gone.

i would bet yamaha had some thing to do with the design of there new chassie
