WHAT has the weather been like lately where you live??

I got 5 in of snow before the new year (very light power) also because its very cold. It settled by NY day and about 2" overall. Everything is more or less frozen solid although I still would not venture on the lakes. I saw someone skating on the one across the road from me but there is always thin spot somewhere. After that freezing rain storm from over a week ago a very firm 1.5" firm icy snow top on the lower snow base which was not as fluffy. Everything just rides on top of it. When I got to my place I had to clear the driveway in -15C temp from fallen limbs to get in after the ice storm. -20 in the city and -23 at my cottage and getting colder tomorrow. I took an ATV ride NY eve and it was pretty nippy. A windshield certainly makes a big difference I confirmed since the ATV doesn't have one. I road through power on top of the icy base. I turned around and headed back after about 10km, that was enough and exercised the machine. Had hot shower and got ready for the New Years Party in a local town we had tickets for.

Well the trails are turning more and more open but I am not all that convince there is a good snow base only a hard frozen base like I have in my yard. The car tires don't even break through it.

-30c this morning when I woke up at 10am. forgot to plug truck in and had to hustle to get it started in time. supposed to be getting 15-20cm of snow here by sunday. good news is most of the trails are green here.

below zero and snowing all day. should to get 8-12" an got 6" of it now. trails should be open this weekend!!

bys I knows it dont suck pulling over a 700vmax with drained carbs in -35C weather... she started though :sled1: :brr

I feel for you, yeah my son's old Doo Formula with a 583 block is an monster to pull over on a normal winter day. We've hit -25C in the city and -26C at the cottage from the weather network. I'll leave him to pull it over. Its always hard at the best of times and requires putting your whole body weight into it. My Venture is so much easier and I also have e-start to help. LOL

Had -2f here this morning and 8inches of fresh light powder. Too bad I broke a ski in half yesterday so now I cant ride

been snowing all day today..nice fresh new powder finally and when the Blizzard kicks in tonight snow will fill in all the right spots..to bad it is getting super cold again as I won't be taking advantage of the new snow this weekend. Will be snowblowing I guess instead..barely got into the yard tonight and into the garage..now the winds can start to blow strong..I see finally some warm up by next weekend finally(-6C) FINALLY!!! will be good for riding.

If I could get away or off work I would have been riding at -40. Done it before and will do it again!

Its been raining for 2 weeks straight and still raining. What was once 4-5ft of powder is now slob and ice in top. Trails and ponds are either ice or dirt. Either way its not possible to ride a sled here now :whine:

Careful you might get hit with another 100cm or more. If we got that kinda of snow they'd cancel the years I am sure. Few would even know what to do or which end of the shovel to use. LOL

We've go mild temps now after a long deep record freeze and light rain all day and the next few. I expect there will be some flooding with the ice blocking sewers and drains especially when the melt picks up adding to the rain. Some southern trails had opened but I doubt they were good at all and will likely be a sweeping red appear now as the snow that was there will also be a sloppy mush slush and lots of water. It will all freeze again by the end of the week but control is zero if anyone dares to ride on it. The trees will be smiling if they do as guest run into them.

well here it is warmer fiinally about -2 C today and cloudy/foggy day.Went out for about a 30 mile ride with my SXR.My back really hurts before I went and now I am in major lower back pain..to rough out there.Did some hill climbing and almost ended up with sled on top of me.Climbed straight up the river bank,it shot me to the right and almost went into a drop of 10 feet straight down into the trees.Lucky I shifted my weight and just pinned her.Another 1 to 1 1/2 feet and would of angled the sled into a drop off point from the top,I would of just dropped off the sled and it would of come down rolling over me and I would of been lodged up against the trees down there..that was to close for comfort.

Good to hear you made out more or less ok. Not fun getting pinned and very bad if you're alone out there!!!

that the sort of temperature we sledded in last year. -2 to +2 which was a bit warm for the machine and rough riding on in many place. Speed needs to be kept down especially in the turns or the dam trees we have will have our number on it. If you miss it you're still in trouble off the trail.

Time to rest an heal now.

The foot of snow we just got has disappeared and then some! Southern ontario just went RED!!! Really sucks because pretty much everywhere was open and trails were good. Now it's like starting over again. Been raining all day here with a high of 5. Supposed to get a bit of snow tonight, but not much. Going to be -2 tomorrow, so I'm going to be traveling north about an hour or so to do some riding.

I am home safe for now but I sure wish it would of been Sunny out today, big difference when riding.I can't stand the foggy stuff and clouds..but it sure is rough most places which is no fun..I want to try to get some miles on the old SRX but don't have any oil on hand for it right now..this winter sure isn't like last year. This season only have a total of 130 miles between both sleds..been to cold also to ride.Last year for the whole season I put on 3000 miles.Sure saving a lot on gas/oil purchase's.
