well we are back into the cold stuff again..-32C tonight windchills of over -40 C.This cold is supposed to remain now right thru February.Has to be the worst winter for Cold in a long time.Even with the snow on the ground, who the heck would want to ride in this stuff.Imagine going about 70 mph on your sled in these temps..that would convert into -100 C easily..I am ready for Spring right now..sick of these temps.Got approx 225 miles of riding in this season..again total for last season was 3000 miles.I got my highest Hydro Bill in 30 years for last month..$504.00.Need to pay the Hydro first before any riding..again I want Spring already. This Winter sure does suck BIG time.

my whole house is on Hydro,no gas out here.Mind you I was keeping the heat in the garage going for a while(big mistake). The Bill for the month earlier was $294.00...Years back we had a cold winter and the Highest was $400. Our Manitoba Hydro is screwing us good here to.They claim they are losing $$$ from exports and they are building like 3 major Hydro Dams..a pile of money that there are no contracts for..SO they asked for residents to pay a 4% increase for the next 10 years to help them out..what BS!!! They are draining us dry money wise.I sure would love to move out of this Province as in the future no one will be able to afford living here.Already got my youngest daughter to leave here and she moved to BC and works in Invermer (ski and snowboard region) She is making a pile of money there working in 2 restaurants. Her friend makes $70,000 a year in tips alone and owns 3 condos and is only 30 years old.I would move to your Province if I could convince my wife...heard it is better there then here.....

The weather has been great here lately, after the thaw everything hardened back up making a solid base and we got quite a bit more snow on top. Trails are open and are in great shape. Lots of really cold air moving in supposedly for the next month!!! Hopefully the Great Lakes don't freeze up entirely with this cold air...could mean the end of the squalls!!!

Not to rub salt in any ones cold wounds BUTwe have had 110" of snow fall, that 36" ABOVE normal. The WEIRD part, 2 hours east of here (Alpena Mi) has had 33" which is 4" BELOW normal. Its supposed to be like -7 tonight and average around 10 for the next week. A little chilly but tolerable.

The ol wood stove will never screw you over blue!

disconnected the wood stove, not worth the effort. If you have to buy firewood it would cost more.Did this years ago and did not save me anything. Now because I disconnected it my insurance rate has dropped over $400...

Why don't you put in a wood/electric furnace, you could heat your whole house for around $600 a year. I have a wood stove here in the house and I heat a 5000 square foot shop with a wood electric stove and it doesn't cost me dick.

Here ya go northern srx

PM me if you have any Q,s

All the small towns here 90% use wood and cut it theirselves. you may have heard about the black our in the province. I tell you, bys out st. johns wouldnt long dartn over to someone with a stove froze to death.

Keeping on track with the thread were getting another foot of wet stuff tomorrow!

Woke up Yesterday to -28 and -21 this morning. Warming up to -6 on Saturday for the poker runs. Woohoo, shorts and t-shirt riding.
Cold, but our trails survived a 4 day thaw and are the best they've been in years. Put nearly 1000k on last weekend. Nearly killed me.
$400 is a heap for insurance Blue. About $50-$80 around here. The key is a good efficient woodstove if you have to buy wood.
Regency or Napoleon are about the best bang for the buck and can be found used for a decent price now.
I swapped out my old Vermont Castings for a newer Regency and burn 1/6 the wood for the same output.
