1st Sled Purchase Nightmare Gets Worse!!!! Please Read!!!!

Shipped parts today should have by monday at the latest. I shipped you the shaft with pulley, both bearings, and impeller for the water pump. Hope this gets you up and going.

its something I saw last time, I just didnt mention it cause I was being a slouch!!!! I have run my bank account soooo far in the hole I was just trying to make it work........ now that I have it appart and see the oil pump was previously junk I dont want to take the risk!!!!

That pump shaft wear happened in the sled. It was caused by misalignment of the shafts. The water pump shaft and bearing wear allowed it to run off center. It should have a new bearing.

It is important to have the proper belt tension. Too tight will cause accelerated wear of the pump shaft. It is better to have it on the loose side of specs.

The other pump that you show is not what it should look like. It has a lot of wear. A new pump has only two flats - not four like that one. I would not use it.

The pump should be removed and checked for wear periodically. Put grease on the shaft.

I dont see any way to adjust the tension of the belt..... it goes straight from the flywheel to the waterpump pulley, no tensioner.... the bearing and shaft were worn BAD!!!!

I have new on the way!!!!!
 
I got bored...... needsnowtogo baught me a sticker and I decided to give the hood a $5 facelift!!!!!!!

I deleted my post by accident-
The belt tension is adjusted by shims between the sheaves of the drive pulley.
The service manual has the spec on it.

No I do not. Someone here should be able to give you the specs or refer you to an on-line manual.
 
spec is 8mm @ 17.6 lbs,but just use your judgment pushing with your finger with moderate pressure you want around a 1/2".

i have the tool used for this purpose but it's hard to find.

I still dont understand where Im supposed to shim it....... the waterpump is definately a solid aluminum pulley, I pressed the shaft out of the center of the pulley and it is one piece for sure!!!

are the shims in the flywheel pulley??? when I had that off it seemed to be one piece aswell..... I have been very wrong about a bunch of stuff, and overlooked way too many things already!!!! Im sure its possible to shim and adjust it but before Im pulling this @#$% thing apart a 4th time I need a little more pointing in the right direction.!.!...PLEASE!!!

I installed the new oil pump, and the new waterpump shaft/pulley, and balanced the old clutch weights(without rivets) and reinstalled them.....

"note to self... buy a clutch puller so I dont have to remove clutch weights surgically..."

fly weights are a huge pain to change while the Primary is still mounted to the motor!!!!

My rpm's now max out at 8100-8200, it feels awesome!!!! shift seems to be somewhere around 5500-6000, engagement is about 4000..... excellent power at low mid and high range.... should I play with my spare set of weights to try to get the rpms down?????

Oil pump is working great!!! day one I burned 5-6 gallons to about 2" of oil(5-6oz) Im guessing..... today I burned 3/4 tank of gas to about 1/2 tank of oil.... seems like a bit much, I started with both tanks full today next time I ride I plan to measure both tanks refill capacity and figure out my ratio!!!! should be 50:1 right????

yes the adjustment shims are in the flywheel water pump pulley, it splits,remove a shim to tighten the belt add a shim to loosen,there different thicknesses too.

also your over rev en that motor you don't want any more then 7800 on top.

how is your pump adjusted? did you set idle then TEP then pump????????

if your using too much oil back pump off to 2mm before the lines line up @ WOT.

shoot for 1 qt to 1 tank(12 gals) of gas
