2001 Srx 700 8BU-10 Setup

Tried a few different setups tonight. Tried my 52/42 helix with my 8bu10 with 3.1g in and 4.5s out. Green wrapped at 80. fell flat on its face at wot (8000)untill it finally crept up to 8500 and then it was like pushing a go fast button and it hit 100 mph in the trail.

I also tried Loading my 8bus with 4.5g in and out with my 52/38. this time it hit 7500rpm and held that rpm and very slowly worked its way up to 8500. It felt like it pulled the hole way but the first set up last weekend was better.

All three setups were with the ywy spring.

How can i get my loaded 8bus to hit 8500 faster?

.85 inner and 5.5 outer hole...
I have .85 inner and 4.5+.8g washer=5.3 outer.
i ran with 51/43 helix green at 70.Basically gets me to 8200 at launch and works up to 8400-8500
I also tried 50/40 helix with green at 80..was a little faster at 1 point.
It doesn't matter what I try, even went back to stock today 8dn20's with 4.5 inner and 5.4 outer stock spring with 47 helix red at 80 and a new belt that was broken in.Out of the hole I hit 8500,drops slightly and wot was 8500-8600.Still only got to 100 and DCS flashed first time in 2 seasons..it was -30 windchills here today plus me going 100 made it like -100 windchill...
I am more convinced now that my new Dual Runner Arrow ski's are slowing me down to much and have shaper bars and 60 carbides.Hugs the corners at 80 no problem..like on rails..but just don;t see more then 100 on speedo now.Oh well just the way she goes..gets there fast anyways..I am not racing for a living either..

Blue, just try your stock skis one day. On the same day, try whatever clutch setup you got in your sled and run it. Take note of what rpms do and what mph is. Then bolt stock skis up and quick try it. Again taking note as to what the rpms and mph does. I'm real curious. Please try and report back.

yes yes blue you are racing to find the perfect clutch set up don't stop tuning

mopar..kinda hard to do now..I sold my stock skis a long time ago...Got the sled running good now.Sitting over night it started up in 1 pull.I cleaned carbs good and adjusted the choke to maximum open.Going out later to try again.

i started at 3.6/3.6 seemed close i was gonna start moving weight from the heel to the tip but my snow melted... that was with a 52/44 helix and a WWW

Just tried out my 8bu-10's on my ported, 140-145psi headed srx (-00)! About 55grams
and a thunderproducts spring (68/136). Hauck 51/43 and a green at 60.

Engaged at 4700 with about 8200 out of the hole and moved to 8500.
Pulled really good!! Pretty desant backshift to =) My warrior gonna have a hard time
catch it now!

I'm very happy with the resulst on my first try! And want to thank you all for shearing
your setups,witch ofcourse helped alot!
Tried the same setup but with cut manifolds (about 12mm.to match the new porttiming)

Sled felt a little flat,BUT the temp was now +5c (-5c last test) so that can really make a diff. But she worked here way up to 8500 but i think peak should be at 8700 something now so i,m gonna put in some more shims, and maybe more wrap and try again.

dammm yesss everything is flood here ...water don;t know where to go ..sucks my srx is ready to get beat again grrrrrrrrr

i think valin try to cut the manifold on dyno and he didnt gain nothing
Ok! I agree, dont think i gained any hp either? Just moved them up
a little to about 8700?

But just tried it tonight with stock weights loaded to ~53g. Temp at -1c
And got 8400 holeshot fast climbing to ~8700 felt really good!

But my 8bu-10 setup (stock m.folds) pulls atleast as good,so i dont think i gained nothing but rpm's. Maybe worth it if you looking for topspeed but
i'm going back to stock m.folds!

modsrx! Do you know if valin dynoed a stock or mod. engine?

Your probably right! Did valin ever had a stock engine? lol...

Well next thing to test would be my 38's,but maybe i need more porting
to really gain anything from them??

trieda new helix today 50/38 stolen from girlfriends fathers sled and it works awsome. very happy with my current set up. but i am ging to try a blue hauck spring to try to get engagement up higher.

As you know I also run the Arrow skis and whether trail riding or racing I like them. Get yourself a set of Ski-Doo percision ski standard runners without carbide and just use one runner per ski when you are doing your speed testing.

RUN A ENGAGEMENT OF ATLEAST 48-5000 BUT DON,T USE ANYMORE THAN THREE SHIMS. TOLD YOU GUYS LAST SPRING YOU WILL LIKE THESE WEIGHTS. 3:16 (yammie tony)
